ANNOUNCEMENT OF POSITION VACANCY Information Technology Programmer Union WELL Inc. REQUISITION #655028225 University Enterprises, Inc. (UEI) at Sacramento State is seeking a Information Technology Programmer for Union WELL Inc. The Union Well, Inc. is an auxiliary of Sacramento State and is a California 501(c)3 not-for-profit corporation. The corporation consists of the facility operations and programs of two buildings: The WELL (Recreation & Wellness Center) and The University Union. The WELL, totaling approximately 150,000 square feet, houses three fitness studios, a cardio suite, two fitness floors, a multi-activity court, four basketball courts, a rock climbing wall, four racquetball courts, an indoor running track, locker rooms, and a conference center. The WELL is also home to Student Health and Counseling Services. The University Union facility, totaling approximately 220,000 square feet, currently houses food service operations, retail operations, multiple meeting and conference spaces, Associated Students, Inc., Student Organizations and Leadership offices, Women’s Resource Center, PRIDE Center, KSSU Student Radio, Public Information Desk, Games Room, Union Gallery, Terminal Lounge (music/video digital media), Student Computer Lounge, Meditation Room, computer and printer workstations throughout the building, a University Police Service Center, and various open lounge spaces. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This is a full-time, exempt from overtime, benefited position, covered under the California Public Employees’ Retirement System. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related technical field or equivalent combination of education and/or work experience. At least one year of related programming experience. Proficiency in coding languages such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, SQL, and familiarity with frameworks like AJAX, ASP.NET, or similar technologies. Demonstrated experience with Linux and Microsoft Windows environments. Experience managing and troubleshooting database servers and web-based applications. 6. Knowledge of TCP/IP networking, common protocols (HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, DNS, SSH), and network infrastructure. 7. Experience installing, configuring, and troubleshooting software applications. Strong analytical, problem-solving, and debugging skills. Ability to document procedures and provide clear communication to both technical and non-technical users. 10. Excellent organizational and time management skills, with a proven ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Must pass a background check, which may include fingerprinting. Must continue to meet the established standards. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS Experience working with content management systems (CMS) such as WordPress or SaaS environments. 2. Familiarity with source control tools such as Git. Experience integrating APIs with web-based applications. Experience with Adobe Creative Cloud Suite. Experience developing responsive and accessible web applications. Previous IT experience in a university or higher education setting. Familiarity with web server environments (Apache, IIS, Tomcat), Active Directory, security protocols, and VPN. 8. General proficiency with Apple related operating systems and hardware. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The position is responsible for programming required for maintenance and development on Union Well web systems and servers. Union WELL Inc. hosts multiple major websites for the University including: The WELL, The University Union, and the Union WELL Inc. corporate website. Additionally, Union WELL has several application & web-based related systems that are hosted both on-site with application and database servers, and also via the cloud as a SaaS. Programming in this position could include scripting, and back-end management of a CMS, plugins, and website/application operation in multiple development and production stacks. Reports directly to the Information Technology Manager, Union WELL Inc. Collaborates closely with the Design and Marketing teams to implement effective digital marketing strategies. The specific duties and responsibilities are as follows: Collaborates with project managers, end users, and stakeholders to gather requirements and define web or application-based software solutions, focusing specifically on website enhancements, online systems, and digital user experiences. Designs, develops, and implements new web applications, digital platforms, and enhancements to existing web systems. Performs regular website maintenance through a content management system, ensuring up-to-date information and optimal functionality. Coordinates updates involving content adjustments, template redesigns, and programming improvements based on stakeholder requests. Provides ongoing technical support and troubleshooting for web systems and application servers. 6. Conducts diagnostic testing, debugging, and troubleshooting to resolve coding issues and ensure operational functionality. Works closely with the marketing and design teams to ensure consistency of web design and effective user experience. Facilitates software installation, upgrades, and integrates system components. Conducts training sessions and creates documentation for end-users. Monitors technology trends within web programming and application development to recommend improvements and keep Union WELL Inc.'s digital presence current. Assists with system administration duties as needed, including database management and server maintenance. 12. Maintains documentation of software and hardware procedures, troubleshooting steps, and technical solutions. 13. Participates in various IT-related meetings with internal and external staff (Information Resources and Technology (IRT), Information Security Office (ISO), Student Affairs, etc.) regarding on-going projects. 14. Other related duties as assigned as it related to the Information Technology department.
