Position Summary: The individual in this position will manage, set goals, institute operational policies, and coordinate activities of the engineering department to include the design, manufacture, and testing of components and products, and maintain quality standards, specifications and systems by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors and employees. The selected candidate will establish best practices that will provide support for AMETEK growth pillars: New product development and operational excellence. This includes OEM new designs, new aftermarket test/repair/overhaul capability, component repair solutions, and aftermarket replacement parts (PMAs). This involves multiple aspects of FAA related federal regulations on both the new production and maintenance sides of the industry. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: \n • Manages department activities and develops policies to design new products, modify existing designs, improve production techniques, and overall product quality associated with manufacturing and testing.\n, • Plans and implements engineering programs, including defining the project philosophies, activities, milestones, and customer requirements. PMP certification is a plus.\n, • Resolves problems using solutions that involve new techniques, technologies, or concepts.\n, • Analyzes technology trends, human resource needs, and market demand to plan projects.\n, • Confers with management, production, and marketing staff to determine engineering feasibility, cost effectiveness, and customer demands for new and existing products.\n, • Forecasts operating costs of department and directs preparation of budget requests.\n, • Advises management of new developments which may affect profit, schedule, costs, customer relations, and/or inter-departmental relations.\n, • Provides direction and example for interpretation and application of company policies and procedures to the engineering activities.\n, • Maintains a working knowledge of new technologies which may improve operations and develops recommendations accordingly.\n, • Maintains a working knowledge of safety policies and regulations to ensure duties of self and others are performed in a safe manner.\n, • Other duties as assigned\n\n Education: • Bachelor of Science (B.S.) degree or higher from an ABET accredited university in the field of Aerospace Engineering or Mechanical Engineering. \n Experience: \n • Related work experience shall be a minimum of 10 years with at least 5 years of engineering management experience.\n, • Experience with the policies and procedures of the following regulatory agencies; FAA, EASA, and DOT, relative to various Aircraft Systems \n, • Candidate must have strong mechanical engineering skills with experience in design, analysis, and testing. \n\n Qualifications: \n • Proven team player who has demonstrated capabilities in the following areas: excellent communication, presentation, leadership and interpersonal skills, well developed problem-solving skills; solid organizational skills; and the demonstrated ability to be self-directed and effectively relate to all levels of an organization \n, • Looking for a hands-on individual with the ability to see the big picture \n, • Ability to work well under pressure, manage multiple initiatives simotaniously, and meet deadlines \n, • Must have a strong blend of technical, project & positive customer relationship building experience.\n, • Demonstrated ability to set goals and objectives to meet Business Unit expectations\n, • The right person will be ambitious and flexible who wants to learn and grow professionally\n, • Computer skills to include MS Office, CAD (CATIA or Solidworks), and Ansys (structural and thermal analysis)\n\n Typical Working Conditions: \n • Work will be conducted mostly indoors in a "shop" type environment.\n, • Exposure to heat or cold will mostly be limited to when walking from one building to another or if bay doors have been opened to allow for shipping and receiving activities. The use of PPE such as safety glasses and safety toed shoes are required in designated working areas.\n\n Essential Physical Tasks: Must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.
