Job Description Job Title: Career Development Specialist Location: Woodside, Queens, NYC Compensation: $50,000 Annual Salary Purpose: We are seeking a Career Development Specialist to support job development and placement for participants of a program located in Woodside, NY. The Jobs-Plus program aims to increase earnings among public housing residents by providing career services, financial counseling/related supports, and community-building activities that support employment in the labor market. Primary Duties and Responsibilities: • Conduct intake, orientation, eligibility screening, and assessments with participants, • Assess program participants’ employment and training needs to help them develop and achieve individualized career plans., • Oversee barrier removal before and after job placement, ensuring the participant has the resources and support they need to obtain and retain employment (i.e. housing, clothing, healthcare, childcare, etc.), • Develop individualized service and engagement plans for participants, • Regularly meet with participants in-person or over phone/video to ensure program participants are continually progressing towards their professional, personal, and academic goals, • Provide individualized support to clients during their job search efforts, higher education applications, personal and career assessments, and exam preparation, • Maintain detailed case notes, update attendance logs, submit weekly reports, and other administrative tasks on a timely basis, • Refer clients to vocational trainings, technical skills classes, and other certification programs, • Meet weekly, quarterly, and annual enrollment and job placement numbers, • Minimum of 4-year degree, relevant experience and/or advanced studies in social services a plus, • One to three (1-3) years of experience working with clients/participants in a workforce development, social services, or community-based context, • Experience developing individualized service and/or employment plans for participants preferred, • Experience and/or passion for serving individuals from disadvantaged and underserved populations, including but not limited to public assistance recipients, justice-involved individuals, persons with physical and/or mental disabilities, and individuals experiencing homelessness, • Knowledge of Motivational Interviewing, Trauma-Informed, and/or Two-Generational methods a definite plus, • Previous experience with case management, job development, and/or adult education a plus., • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Salesforce, Microsoft Teams, and/or SharePoint preferred, • Comprehensive Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance, • Paid Time Off and Company Holidays, • 401k Matching After 1 Year, • Wonderful team, great work-life balance, and important mission
