American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN Cardiac Stepdown for a travel nursing job in Wilmington, North Carolina. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: Cardiac Stepdown, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 12/29/2025, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, nights, • Work in a Stepdown Cardiac unit within a hospital setting, • Patient population includes cardiac stepdown and post-surgical cardiac patients, • Common patient diagnoses include atrial fibrillation, CHF, ACS, CAD, aortic and mitral valve disorders, endocarditis, cardiomyopathy, PVD, PAD, and various vascular conditions, • Special procedures include CABG, AVR, MVR, TAVR, mitral clip, LAAO, VATS, carotid endarterectomy, FEM-POP bypass, and electrophysiology-related care, • Utilizes specialized equipment such as EKG, femoral sheaths, arterial lines, Doppler, bladder scanners, TR band, Fem-stop, chest tubes, and epicardial pacing wires, • Uses Epic for charting and Pyxis for medication management, • Ratios vary by acuity: typically 1:4 for surgical stepdown and 1:5–6 for lower acuity, • Night shift only (three 12-hour shifts, 18:45–07:15), 36 hours per week, • Weekend requirement is 4 shifts per 4 weeks (flexible), • Floating required as per unit rotation and based on skill set; not first to float, • 13–26 week contract options available, • Will provide care for complex post-operative cardiac and vascular patients, • Expected to participate in Storm Team or Hurricane Team when needed during catastrophic events or disasters, • Consolidation to the Centralized Office or reassignment to affiliated units may occur, • Orientation includes 24 hours of unit-specific training, • Must adhere to Navy scrub dress code, • No RTO permitted in the first week and additional RTO is subject to strict approval policies, • Candidates must work 2 of 3 major holidays during the contract, • Local candidates under 50 miles are offered lower local rates, • Fatigue policy limits working to no more than 5 days in a row or 60 hours in one week\n \n Requirements\n, • Active NC or compact RN license required at start (pending status acceptable for submission), • Minimum 2 years of recent cardiac floor experience required, • BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required, • Must have experience with cardiac telemetry, stepdown/PCU, sheath removal, dysrhythmia management, post-MI, post-cardiac cath, cardiac drip management (with titration), chest tubes, and non-invasive airway management, • EKG testing must be passed prior to start, • Epic charting experience required, • Two professional supervisory references from the past 2 years are required by start, • Former staff must have been separated for at least 12 months to be eligible for hire as a traveler\n Benefits\n, • High Pay and Bonuses, • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options, • 401(k) Plan, • Weekly Payroll Deposit, • Free Online CEUs, • Generous Housing Allowance, • Travel and Licensure Reimbursements, • Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
