The Lead Industrial Engineer – Distribution Facilities is responsible for highly complex industrial engineering initiatives supporting distribution centers, warehouses, and fulfillment operations. This role leads planning and optimization activities related to facility layout, material handling systems, workflow design, labor utilization, and equipment deployment to improve safety, service levels, throughput, and cost performance. The position applies advanced engineering principles to solve complex operational challenges and serves as a technical leader and internal consultant on major distribution initiatives. Key Responsibilities: • Lead end‑to‑end engineering design and optimization of operations, including tenant improvements (TI), facility layouts, material flow, storage systems, and process design to support capacity, safety, and service requirements., • Independently execute capacity planning, engineered labor standards, time studies, and throughput modeling to optimize space, equipment, and labor utilization., • Develop and implement scalable productivity and cost‑reduction solutions, supporting improved service performance and operational stability., • Analyze complex operational and financial data to create engineering models and decision support, including cost‑benefit analysis, ROI calculations, and scenario comparisons., • Design, document, and deploy standardized processes and best practices across multiple sites to drive consistency and operational excellence., • Evaluate and support implementation of automation and mechanization solutions, collaborating with internal teams and external integrators., • Serve as the engineering lead on assigned capital projects, coordinating task execution, risk mitigation, and operational readiness within approved scope and budget., • Partner closely with Operations, Finance, IT, Security, Procurement, and vendors to support successful delivery of Capex and operational improvement initiatives., • Develop engineering inputs, analyses, and documentation to support business cases and investment proposals., • Review and validate engineering drawings, layouts, specifications, and system configurations to ensure alignment with safety, quality, and engineering standards., • Act as a technical subject matter expert, providing hands‑on problem solving and guidance for warehousing and material handling challenges., • Apply Lean, Six Sigma, and Industrial Engineering tools to identify root causes, implement countermeasures, and sustain improvements., • Track and analyze key performance indicators (KPIs) related to productivity, labor efficiency, cost, service, and space utilization, recommending corrective actions., • Provide technical guidance and informal mentorship to junior engineers and project team members through design reviews and project support. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Strong background in Supply Chain, Distribution, or Industrial Engineering within large‑scale fulfillment networks., • Advanced ability to analyze and resolve complex operational and technical problems within warehouse and fulfillment operations, • Expert ability to understand and optimize distribution workflows, labor models, and material flow systems, • Strong project management expertise, including leadership of complex, cross-functional distribution initiatives, • Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership and work direction, • Expert knowledge of facility layouts, material handling systems, technical plans, blueprints, and drawings, • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders across Operations, Supply Chain, Engineering, IT, and Leadership, • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills Working Relationships: • Partners closely with Distribution Operations, Supply Chain, Transportation, Engineering, IT, Safety, Finance, and external vendors., • Provides technical leadership and guidance to industrial engineers and technical support staff supporting distribution facilities. Required Qualifications: • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Industrial, Manufacturing, Mechanical, or related discipline required), • Master’s degree in Engineering preferred, • Minimum of 8 years of related industrial engineering experience, with significant experience supporting distribution centers, warehousing, or logistics operations Compensation: This is a salaried exempt role. The starting salary range for this role and market is between $112,000-$147,000 annually. Factors that may affect starting salary include geography/market and the skills, education, experience, and other qualifications of the successful candidate. Employees in this role are also eligible for an annual bonus in accordance with the terms of the Company’s applicable plan. Employees in this role are not eligible for overtime.
