Job Description The Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai affiliated with NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst is seeking a part time BC/BE Pediatric Infectious Diseases Physician to join the growing Department of Pediatrics at Elmhurst Hospital Center in Elmhurst, New York NYC Health + Hospitals/Elmhurst is a member of New York City’s H+H (Health + Hospitals) public hospital system and is located in the most ethnically diverse community in New York, with immigrants from 112 different countries. The Department of Pediatrics, is one of the largest in the organization, made up of inpatient pediatrics, a Level III NICU and large mother baby unit with >2500 deliveries a year, a pediatric emergency room and a busy ambulatory service. In 2019, our Ambulatory Pediatric Clinic had more than 41,500 visits and served 15,646 unique patients. The Pediatric Department has more than 40 attendings and supports a Mount Sinai GME affiliated residency program with 41 pediatric residents. Currently the Pediatrics ID clinic meets twice a week and sees a variety of neonatal and pediatric infectious conditions that require outpatient follow-up. This position will cover outpatient clinics as well as inpatient and Pediatric ED consults. Responsibilities include: caring for infants and children with HIV/AIDS exposure or disease with a dedicated established HIV team, collaborating with the Children and Adolescent Protection Clinic, consultations from residents and general pediatricians and would afford the candidate opportunities for teaching as part of a medium-sized ACGME-accredited Pediatric Residency Program. Evening, night and weekend phone coverage is shared with Mount Sinai Division of Pediatric ID. POSITION SUMMARY: The Director of Clinical Services is responsible for general oversight and administration of all aspects of programming and will report to the Vice President. The qualified candidate will provide leadership, direction and support to the program’s supervisory staff and their respective clinical teams. The Program Director must possess previous experience in providing services to IPV families and families with substance use disorder histories. The Program Director is responsible for ensuring all the requirements of the program regulations are met, that staff are recruited, trained and properly supervised. The Parent Advocate helps the parent understand and navigate the foster care system, make decisions for their families, remain hopeful, and address family challenges so that they can accomplish their goal of reunification. The focus of this job is building connections with parents and working collaboratively with case planners. Each Parent Advocate will be assigned to a case planning unit and will support parents and bring their experience to the foster care agency decision-making process so that children safely return home. Parent Advocates with their own personal prior lived experience of the child welfare system will be effective in informing and supporting parents with children in foster care and help to improve outcomes for children and families. The Clinical Support team works with CPS Teams and/or directly with impacted families to ensure optimal service delivery. The team assists with family engagement approaches, with assessing/screening for the most pressing needs, and with identifying and facilitating connections to relevant resources. POSITION SUMMARY: The Clinical Support Clinician is responsible for the delivery of clinical guidance including securing potential resources. The Clinical Support Clinician will support, recommend and monitor that the approach to treatment used is trauma-informed, strength-based and emphasizes both short-term and long-term goals to restore and maintain safety for family members. The Clinical Support Clinician will research and refer to community resources, when appropriate. Supervisor can sign off on clinical hours earned in this position towards a clinical license.
