Job Description Position Overview We are seeking an experienced Workday HCM Consultant with strong expertise in Payroll, Benefits, and Compensation to support the design, configuration, optimization, and ongoing administration of our Workday Human Capital Management platform. The ideal candidate will serve as a subject matter expert across these modules while partnering with HR, Payroll, Finance, and IT to drive efficient, compliant, and scalable Workday solutions. This position will be a key role in a transition from SAP to Workday HCM. The project has recently moved from configuration to testing. This position is an ONSITE position in Rochester NY. This role DOES NOT support a remote work model Key Responsibilities Workday Configuration & Module Expertise • Configure, maintain, and optimize Workday HCM, with a strong focus on:, • Workday Payroll — pay components, gross-to-net calculations, payroll processing, retro pay, payroll results analysis., • Benefits — open enrollment setup, plans & packages, eligibility rules, COBRA, ACA, life events, compliance., • Compensation — compensation plans (salary, bonus, merit), compensation cycles, grades, ranges, eligibility, advanced compensation events., • Maintain business processes, condition rules, notifications, and security roles across HCM and related modules., • Lead or support module implementations, new feature rollouts, and semi-annual Workday releases., • Conduct unit testing, regression testing, payroll parallel testing, and user acceptance testing., • Run, audit, and validate payroll results, benefits enrollment data, and compensation cycle data., • Develop and maintain Workday reports (Advanced, Matrix, Composite) for Payroll, Benefits, and Compensation., • Work closely with HR, Compensation, Benefits, Payroll, Finance, and IT to gather requirements and translate them into scalable Workday solutions., • Provide system guidance for annual processes such as:, • Merit cycles, • Open Enrollment, • Year-end payroll activities, • Ensure compliance with payroll tax regulations, benefits regulations (ACA, HIPAA), and compensation governance., • Assist with audits, SOX controls, data privacy, and regulatory reporting. Required Qualifications • 3–5+ years of hands-on Workday HCM configuration experience., • Proven, practical experience with Workday Payroll, Benefits, and Compensation modules., • Strong understanding of HR, compensation strategy, health & welfare benefits, payroll operations, and compliance., • Experience supporting payroll processing, year-end activities, and benefit enrollment cycles., • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to analyze data and diagnose system issues., • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to partner effectively across multiple stakeholder groups. Preferred Qualifications • Workday certifications in:, • Workday HCM, • Workday Payroll, • Workday Benefits, • Workday Compensation, • Experience with:, • EIBs, PECI, or related integration tools, • Complex organizations or multi-state payroll, • Open Enrollment and Merit/Bonus cycles, • Prior involvement in full Workday implementation cycles.
