How You’ll Make an Impact The Tool Crib Attendant supports daily machining and manufacturing operations by purchasing, receiving, kitting, organizing, and issuing tooling, supplies, and production resources. This role ensures that tooling and consumables are properly stocked, accurately tracked, and delivered to the shop floor in a timely, organized manner. The Tool Crib Attendant maintains accurate inventory records, supports vendor management, coordinates kitting for production jobs, and works closely with planning, engineering, and machining teams to ensure internal and external customers receive what they need to meet production goals. What you’ll be doing as a Tool Crib Attendant: • Working a Full-time, onsite position at our Simi Valley, CA location., • Inventory, Purchasing & Receiving, • Purchase equipment, tools, consumables, and shop supplies needed to support machining and manufacturing operations., • Purchase new or additional stock based on usage patterns, upcoming jobs, and inventory levels., • Receive, inspect, count, and log incoming inventory manually and through the ERP system., • Track shipments, follow up on delayed deliveries, and source alternative vendors when necessary., • Dispose of damaged, expired, or defective items, or coordinate returns to vendors., • Tool Crib Organization & Distribution, • Store tools, parts, and supplies in an organized, easily accessible manner to support efficient workflow., • Issue, distribute, and document tooling and supplies per requisitions, work orders, and production needs., • Maintain job charging records and ensure accurate tracking of consumable and tooling usage., • Conduct routine cycle counts and support root-cause investigations for inventory discrepancies., • Kitting & Production Support, • Compile, stage, and kit tools, inserts, fixtures, and accessories based on production schedules and work orders., • Verify kitting accuracy against job requirements, setup sheets, and tool lists., • Communicate missing items and work cross-functionally to expedite items needed for kitted jobs., • Assist machinists, planners, and supervisors in identifying the proper tools and consumables., • System Accuracy & Communication, • Maintain data from requisitions, purchase orders, usage logs, and inventory documentation., • Review catalogs, vendor platforms, and industry resources to identify cost-effective equipment and supply options., • Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and HR on training and process improvement needs., • Support continuous improvement in tool crib organization, workflow, purchasing strategy, and kitting accuracy., • Minimum of 4 years’ experience in a CNC Machining manufacturing environment., • Ability to work with machining terminology, tooling types, inserts, holders, and shop consumables., • Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills with a collaborative mindset., • Highly organized with the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment., • Proficient computer skills; ability to learn and use ERP systems for inventory and purchasing., • High attention to detail to ensure accurate kitting, documentation, and inventory tracking. Preferred Qualifications (Education, skills, and experience): • Prior experience in a tool crib, machining department, or tooling-related purchasing role., • Knowledge of machining operations, cutting tools, holders, inserts, and fixturing., • Experience performing data entry and inventory control within an ERP system., • Strong vendor management and sourcing experience., • Understanding of lean principles related to inventory flow, 5S, and kitting for efficiency. Work Environment: A large percentage of work time is spent in a machine shop where temperatures vary from hot to cold. The environment may also include exposure to noise, dust, fumes, vapor from coolant, etc. Industry standard safety equipment is provided by the Company, and specific notice is posted in areas where safety equipment is required. Compensation and Benefits: Employee Benefits: Medical, dental, vision, basic and supplemental life insurance, long-term disability and 401(k) with up to 6% QACA company match. The Tool Crib Attendant Compensation range for onsite California applicants is $25/hr - $30/hr commensurate with experience. Some shifts may include shift differential pay rates. Other site ranges may differ.
