Job Description Job Title: Quality Technician Job Description The Quality Technician supports the production process by ensuring that finished products meet established quality standards before they move from packaging into the warehouse. This role uses specifications, sampling plans, and work instructions to perform inspections, document results, and drive continuous improvement. The Quality Technician collaborates closely with production and quality teams, has authority to make product quality decisions, and contributes to process improvements and Lean initiatives within a regulated manufacturing environment, with a focus on medical devices. Responsibilities • Understand and apply appropriate documents such as specifications, acceptance limit examples, sampling plans, and established work instructions during daily inspections., • Work closely with production teams to streamline and improve the flow of finished product from packaging to the warehouse., • Approve finished products by confirming they meet specifications, performing barcode scanning, and conducting visual and measurement tests., • Identify nonconforming products, return them for rework, and confirm that rework meets acceptance criteria before products are received into the warehouse., • Help ensure that first-quality product leaves production before moving into the warehouse., • Exercise authority to make product quality-related decisions, including placing products on quality hold and issuing nonconformities based on final product acceptance criteria., • Document inspection results by completing reports and logs, summarizing rework and waste, and entering data into quality databases or spreadsheets., • Create quality spreadsheets for product inspections for new products as required., • Review process documentation and provide red-lined documents to document control to support process improvements., • Keep measurement equipment operating effectively by following operating instructions and calibration requirements and requesting repairs when needed., • Work within the Quality department to validate and implement the use of the Measure Fix tool in a timely manner., • Maintain a safe work environment at all times and follow all safety procedures., • Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and reading relevant technical publications., • Support the overall quality and organizational mission by completing related tasks as needed., • Provide backup coverage to other Quality Technicians when required., • Actively participate in department quality meetings and contribute to overall Lean initiatives., • High school diploma or equivalent., • 1 to 2 years of quality experience preferred, including quality control, quality assurance, quality inspection, or quality checks., • Experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably within a medical device manufacturing facility., • Familiarity with medical device regulations and standards preferred., • Ability to understand and use specifications, acceptance limits, sampling plans, and work instructions., • Ability to perform visual and measurement tests with strong attention to detail and color perception., • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, with strong skills in Word and Excel preferred., • Ability to create and maintain spreadsheets for quality data and product inspections., • Strong verbal and written communication skills to interact with multiple departments regarding quality testing parameters., • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with others., • Good visual, hand, and eye coordination for inspection tasks., • Ability to stand, walk, sit, type, and perform repetitive tasks as required for inspection and documentation., • Clear, simple verbal communication for face-to-face and other verbal contact., • Experience working within a medical device manufacturing environment is strongly preferred., • Knowledge of quality databases or electronic systems for recording inspection data., • Comfort working with measurement equipment and following calibration requirements., • Interest in continuous improvement and Lean initiatives., • Willingness to participate in educational opportunities and stay current with technical publications related to quality., • Ability to review and red-line process documents for improvement. This role operates within a small, collaborative quality team of approximately five people in a manufacturing environment. The standard work schedule is Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. The position involves regular standing, walking, sitting, typing, and performing detailed visual and measurement inspections. Work includes frequent face-to-face and verbal contact with production, quality, and other departments. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Kansas City, KS. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $22.00/hr.
