Job DescriptionDescription: POSITION SUMMARY: Under the General direction of the Director, the Coach II will be responsible for developing youth athletes in all aspects of assigned sport including mental, psychological and physical development. Creates a safe and positive atmosphere that promotes member safety and engagement in accordance with YMCA policies and procedures. Requirements: ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Instructs a group of youth participants in accordance with YMCA guidelines and having prepared practice plans accordingly; while maintaining constant surveillance of all program participants emphasizing the importance of safety., • Builds effective, authentic relationships with participants and parents; helps them connect with each other and the YMCA. Encourages parent involvement and identifies potential volunteers., • Provides positive, encouraging and specific feedback on a regular basis with regard to technique., • Uses teachable moments to discuss character development and provides constructive feedback during practice session using positive motivation techniques., • Communicates information to parents in a positive and supportive manner., • Attends meetings, clinics, banquets, fundraisers, team social functions and events as required and needed., • Follows all YMCA policies, rules, regulations and procedures, including emergency and safety procedures. Completes incident and accident reports as necessary., • Utilize equipment appropriately with activities and incorporate skill development. Organizes and puts away needed class equipment. Clean up area after each session. Reports damaged equipment., • Keeps Enrichment Director appraised of situations requiring his/her attention. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS/QUALIFICATIONS: • Current certification in instruction for Gymnastics preferred., • Minimum of 2 years prior experience in Gymnastics coaching., • Certifications: CPR, AED, First Aid., • Oxygen Administration certification (required within 30 days of hire), • Must be able to remain alert., • Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods., • Adequate ability to hear noises and distinguish distress signals., • Ability to continuously scan all areas with clear vision., • Ability to perform strenuous physical tasks necessary., • Ability to communicate verbally, including projecting voice across distance in normal and loud situations.

Job Description Summary of Art Teacher-Special Education The Art Teacher provides direct and appropriate individualized instruction based on objectives in art according to the New York Learning Standards and develops social skills while maintaining classroom discipline and safety. The Art Teacher collaborates with a multidisciplinary team that includes teaching assistants, teacher aides, social workers, parents/guardians, residential staff, administration, and other professionals in the education and treatment of each child. The Art Teacher reports student progress by reviewing the IEP on a quarterly basis, completing a daily computer log, participating in quarterly Planning Conferences, and by issuing report cards. Schedule: Hours – 8:30am-3:30pm daily, except for one day per week so designated for staff conference: 3:00pm-5:00pm. Entry Level Qualifications of Art Teacher-Special Education • Certification in Special Education with an art background or Certified in Art with Special Education experience., • Teaching Experience Preferred., • Must be willing to both work with and seek to increase their sensitivity and competency in working with clients with diverse characteristics that may include, but are not limited to any of the following: race, ethnic origin, gender, sexual orientation, religious beliefs, physical and mental health histories, and differing socio-economic backgrounds., • Must be willing and flexible in service provision to clients in terms of location of services, which may include, but are not limited to: in agency facilities, in the client’s home, in the client’s community, at the client’s school, in another service provider, etc. as indicated by the nature of service and the client’s needs., • Must be willing and able to participate in the supervision of all teaching assistants/teacher aides that work in the classroom., • Supports overall strategic plan of the organization., • Ability to adhere to our organization's core values and commitments., • Ability to access and utilize ADP app on smartphone or other device for access to agency programs. Physical Requirements of Art Teacher- Special Education • Candidates who are successfully hired, must participate in our Therapeutic Crisis Intervention training which concludes with a written and verbal test, and you will be evaluated on conducting a proper physical restraint., • Must possess ability to sit, stand, walk, run, climb stairs, and lift weights of up to 30 lbs., • Have the physical capacity to restrain or assist in the restraint of a child., • Adherence to all policies and procedures., • Punctual and regular attendance as scheduled., • Safe and successful performance of job tasks., • Willingness to be flexible and collaborate with all team members, willingness to go beyond the bounds of normal responsibilities to ensure safety and effectiveness of school., • This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only job duties to be performed by the incumbent.
