Job Description Job Description: Upper School Science Teacher (Integrated Biology & Chemistry) Overview Dwight-Englewood School, the largest independent school in Bergen County, NJ, and a growing, vibrant, and diverse learning community in the New York City metro area, is seeking to fill a full-time Upper School Science teaching position starting in the 2026–2027 school year. Candidates should have a strong knowledge of both biology and chemistry. The STEM Center, which opened in 2015, houses the Science and Mathematics Departments, complete with 8 science labs, 7 mathematics classrooms, a greenhouse, and an innovation lab for robotics and other programs. This 30,000 square foot facility was designed with purposeful collaboration between the architects and the faculty and represents the best in planning for the future of science and mathematics education. Essential Responsibilities * Actively support the Mission of the School and put that vision into daily practice. * Teach 4 sections of Science, including: * At least one section in our innovative Integrated Biology and Chemistry program for 9th and 10th graders. This two-year sequence emphasizes environmental application, experimental design, and real world examples and has a significant laboratory component. Teachers work collaboratively using a custom curriculum that focuses on the skills and fundamental understandings associated with science. * The position may also include teaching advanced courses such as semester electives for 11th and 12th graders at the college placement or honors level, teaching AP Biology, and/or advising our independent research program. * Attend weekly departmental and/or divisional meetings after school. * Serve as an advisor to a small group (usually around ten) of Upper School students. * Participate in activities as required. * Provide extra help for students as necessary. * Perform other duties as assigned, such as lunch supervision, etc. Desired Qualities * A true love of working with Upper School students. * A personality that is approachable, encouraging, and positive. * Experience designing and giving feedback to students using a variety of strategies, including labs, tests, projects, activities, discussions, papers, etc. * Clear, consistent, and dynamic communication with students, colleagues, and parents. * Experience leading advisory programs and/or other student-centered programs. * A growth mindset. * Ability to work within and contribute to a high performing professional team. Position Requirements * A Bachelor’s Degree (Master’s Degree preferred) in related fields. * Experience teaching Science at the Upper School level. * Personal and professional alignment to the school’s mission, vision, and values. * Knowledge of and commitment to diversity, multiculturalism, and anti-bias education in all aspects of the work with Upper School students, families, and colleagues. * Excellent oral, written, and electronic communication skills * Leadership of after-school activities (in athletics, the arts, or other programs). Terms of Employment * This is a full-time, 10 month teaching position. * Professional days are considered work days and participation in planned activities is mandatory. * Standard working hours are 8 am to 4 pm with attendance at weekly division/department meetings required. These meetings may go as late as 5 pm. * Salaries are based on years of experience and education level. The salary range for this position based on the requirements stated above is $65,000 to $100,000. Job DescriptionPosition Description: Administrative Assistant to the Superintendent Reporting to:\t\tSuperintendent Location:\t\tYonkers, New York Background The mission of the Charter School of Educational Excellence (CSEE) is to produce students who meet or exceed all New York State learning standards. CSEE will do this by creating a challenging learning environment with high expectations for every child, with an emphasis on the basic subject areas of English-language arts, mathematics, social studies, and science. The school will employ a standards-based and research-proven curriculum, implement best educational practices, use a variety of assessments to measure ongoing student progress in skills and content learning, and support teachers with professional development activities aligned with the instructional program. Position Overview This is a 12-month position that requires a close, continuing relationship with the Superintendent of the School and provides support in all operational aspects of the office. This position plays a key role in managing the written and oral communications among the Superintendents Office and the elementary, middle, and high schools. The Administrative Assistant works closely with staff in other Central Office areas, including the principals' offices, Student Data, Business Office, and Parent Coordinator. The incumbent is expected to alert the Superintendent on matters requiring their attention and anticipate, undertake, and accomplish varied tasks with minimum supervision, exercising considerable independent judgment with information kept confidential as appropriate. Responsibilities & duties (including, but not limited to) Maintain the Superintendents calendar, including the scheduling and rescheduling of meetings, calls, and conferences Compose business letters, emails, documents, and reports as needed Review and edit written material for accuracy of spelling, grammar, content and format. Ensure all written communications from the Superintendents office are of the highest quality Maintain and update the Schools web pages, and school social media, relative to the Superintendents office Attend team meetings and board meetings, take meeting notes, and follow up as needed Prepare the monthly School Calendar of Activities and Superintendent Newsletter. Verify and keep the information up to date within the document Maintain an effective electronic and paper filing system that ensures accurate and timely retrieval of all relevant information related to the Superintendent's Office such as charter documents, school policies and practices, laws and regulations, contracts and reports Maintains multiple internal databases that require a proficient to expert level of experience with Microsoft Office and Google Docs. Research educational topics and trends as needed to support the development of documents and projects Handles correspondence for the Superintendent Assist with events such as an open house and teacher/parent nights, professional development days, school activities, and other Superintendent-involved activities Perform other duties and assignments as requested Working knowledge of specific NYSED portals such as Grants Gateway, G5, G6, SAM.gov Working knowledge of PowerSchool Work Experience & Skills Bachelors degree and two or more years of school administrative experience preferred Bilingual, English and Spanish with verbal and written proficiency in Spanish is a MUST Must have strong organizational and communication skills, verbal and written Ability to work with parents, students, faculty, and support staff, as well as school community groups Extremely competent in computer programs such as Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Google Docs, Zoom, and Gmail Ability to prioritize work based on the Superintendents Office needs Working knowledge of school systems: Powerschool and Pick a Patrol Ability to handle stressful situations with tact and composure Ability to handle large volumes of work and a variety of responsibilities associated with running a busy office with efficiency and accuracy Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, supportive environment that nurtures student growth Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds Ability to sit at a desk for several hours a day as needed and or continue physical movements such as reaching, bending, and twisting throughout the day Schedule This is an at-will employment. The schedule is 40 hours per week for 52 weeks per year, generally 7:00 to 4:00 p.m. daily, including an hour of unpaid lunch. Schedules may vary from time to time, including occasional evening hours to attend open house, parent-teacher conferences, and board meetings.
