Job Description BUILDING MECHANIC Full Time / NY, NY Work Assignment: East River Plaza We are seeking a Building Mechanic, to be directed by the Chief Engineer / Lead Mechanic and supervised by the Property Manager, to oversee and perform all facility maintenance tasks. General Statement of Duties and Responsibilities: The Building Mechanic oversees and performs all facility maintenance and upkeep. They shall follow a preventative maintenance program, inventory control, and the operation of all HVAC and MEP site equipment. They shall collaborate closely with management and other team members to deliver services and shall supervise technical service providers to ensure compliance with building performance specifications. The Building Mechanic shall report to the Chief Engineer and or Property Manager. Required Qualifications and Experience: We are seeking candidates with 5-7 years of related experience. They must have completed a trade apprenticeship or technical training, and a high school diploma is required. This involves insuring a safe, secure, and comfortable living environment for residents, visitors and staff. The maintenance worker will carry out assigned duties in a safe manner and other duties as requested by the Superintendent. Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities: A building maintenance worker must possess a variety of skills encompassing most of the construction trades, handling that require basic skills as an electrician, carpenter, plumber, mechanic, painter, HVAC technician and roofer, as well as be able to perform all the responsibilities of a porter, should the situation warrant. The building maintenance worker must always remain aware of their limitations and request the services of a professional when the worker’s lack of expertise requires it.
