Job Description Summary Job Description: Under general supervision of a Director, the Casework Supervisor is responsible for providing professional and administrative guidance to a small unit of up to 4 case planners in providing comprehensive casework and building partnerships with each family of the children in the care of Little Flower. The Casework Supervisor oversees the development of action plans with each Case Planner to address all relevant concerns of the families that lead to the foster care placement of their children. The action plans are developed to create meaningful change so permanent solutions for the children and their families can be achieved. The Casework Supervisor assigns and reviews cases; trains case planners; interprets rules and regulations and assists in resolving casework problems. Performs all relevant work as assigned. About Little Flower Little Flower Children and Family Services of New York is a human services nonprofit supporting the well-being of children, youth, families, and individuals across New York City and Long Island since 1929. Our staff of more than 500 builds well-being by providing prevention services, foster care, residential treatment care, adoption services, programs and services for individuals with developmental disabilities, and medical and mental health services. Principle Responsibilities • Supervises a unit at a maximum of 4 case planners and conducts individual and group conferences with casework staff to complete assignments and to guide, train, and develop casework skills., • Evaluates staff performance, reviews case records, and maintains appropriate records and controls., • Conduct structured supervision consistently around both issues of compliance and permanency timelines to give workers feedback, provide motivation, insight, and constructive criticism., • Ability to step into difficult or hostile situations, model behaviors to handle difficult situations, and provide mediation., • Resolves workers’ concerns and assist struggling workers by creating corrective action plans or other developmental plans when necessary for changes to occur., • Provide overall structure and organization to unit to develop the skill set of staff, so they can create positive solutions for families., • Act as an effective and professional liaison between all internal staff and external organizations., • Ensure coordination of all specialists’ contacts into the case plan and foster good teamwork among case planners and specialists of other staff with whom they share a case., • In absence of a caseworker,supervisor is ultimately responsible for covering the caseload until a replacement is identified., • May be required to cover for another casework supervisor in the event of their absence., • Ensure compliance with all rules and regulations of the agency, and as well as those of all local, state, federal, and other governing bodies., • Maintain a time oriented, deadline focused approach to documentation for your unit, including progress notes, psycho socials, and FASP’s., • Aides staff to locate and engage extended support networks for families served by unit., • Graduation from an accredited university with a Master's Degree in Social Work(or related field) and four years of professional experience in the program to which he or she isto be assigned., • Thorough knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques and of their application within the assigned program., • Good knowledge of applicable to the oversight agency’s rules and regulations relating to the program., • Good knowledge of Little Flower’s rules, regulations, and procedures relating to the program., • Ability to plan, assign, and supervise the activities of a casework unit in a manner conducive to full performance and high morale., • Ability to analyze and evaluate case records and to assist subordinates to reach sound decisions based on pertinent regulations and information. This position offers a full-time, hybrid and in-field work schedule and is based in Brooklyn, NY. It requires routine travel throughout the five boroughs.
