Position Impact: The Underground (UG) Laborer plays a vital role in the construction, maintenance, and operation of underground telecommunications infrastructure as directed by the Foreman and/or Supervisor. Your responsibilities include hands-on work in excavation, cable installation, equipment operation, and ensuring a safe and organized work environment. You collaborate closely with your team to support the efficient and secure installation of cabling, wiring, and related materials. Safety consciousness, adherence to industry regulations, and effective communication are essential in this role. Your contributions are integral to expanding and maintaining the telecommunications network, enabling the seamless flow of information and connectivity. Requirements Qualifications and Experience: • Eligibility for US Employment without sponsorship, • Minimum of 18 years of age, • Associate degree (A.A.) or equivalent education in a related field of study preferred, • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent combination of education and experience is required, • A valid driver's license, subject to successful verification through a DMV check, is mandatory, • Ability to travel to multiple work sites, work overtime, weekends, holidays, or off hours as needed, • Flexibility to work outside standard hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed to meet project deadlines or address critical issues, • 5+ years of overall sales experience, including 1–2 years in a sales training, enablement, or coaching role, • Proven success in both inside sales (phone-based) and outside sales (door-to-door or field), • Demonstrated ability to sell and train effectively in a fast-paced, high-growth environment, • Strong skills in public speaking, presentation delivery, and facilitation, • Ability to develop clear, engaging training materials and instructional content, • Proficient with tools such as Salesforce, sales enablement platforms, and data dashboards (e.g., SalesRabbit), • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills; able to coach and influence across all levels, • Willing and able to travel up to 50% across California markets, • Experience in the telecommunications industry or other rapid-growth sectors strongly preferred, • The ability to effectively communicate in English, including speaking, reading, writing, and comprehension, as necessary for effective job performance and workplace communication, • Proficiency in Spanish Language desirable Skills: • Proficient use of MS Office applications including Teams, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint; teleconferencing applications, • Functional use of common office equipment, computers, and office software, • Ability to distinguish colors and audible tones Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Project Supervision: • Leads a team of underground technicians, laborers, and equipment operators in the execution of utility installation, maintenance, and repair projects, • Assigns tasks, manage work schedules, and ensure resources are allocated effectively Project Coordination: • Collaborates with project managers, engineers, and cross-functional teams to ensure project plans are implemented accurately and on time, • Coordinates with utility locators and other stakeholders to prevent conflicts and disruptions Resource Management: • Efficiently allocates equipment, materials, and labor resources to optimize project productivity and meet project requirements Quality Assurance: • Ensures that all underground work is performed to high-quality standards, adhering to industry specifications and company guidelines Problem Solving: • Addresses challenges and unexpected issues that arise during projects, making informed decisions to minimize disruptions and maintain project progress Documentation and Reporting: • Maintains accurate records of project activities, including progress reports, work performed, materials used, and any incidents or changes, • Prepares and submits reports to project managers and relevant stakeholders Client Communication: • Interacts with clients, property owners, and stakeholders to address concerns, provide updates, and ensure client satisfaction throughout projects Training and Development: • Trains and mentors team members, providing guidance on best practices, equipment operation, safety protocols, and technical skills Equipment and Site Maintenance: • Oversees the maintenance and servicing of equipment, ensuring proper functionality and adherence to maintenance schedules, • Operates mechanized equipment such as a bucket truck, excavators, and trencher, • Manages deployment and removal of traffic control devices to ensure safety in work areas on streets or roadways, • Adheres to and operates within the weight capacity limits specified by manufacturers for equipment and machinery:, • Ladders: 300-pound manufacturers maximum load capacity Vehicle Maintenance and Travel: • Maintains vehicle/equipment pre-op/post-op to be prepared to perform required duties, • Maintains a clean driving record as defined by the current fleet insurance underwriter, • Spends a significant portion of the workday traveling in a vehicle visiting various locations and spending time both indoors and outdoors including businesses and/or residents depending on the nature of the job, • May be required to work overtime, after hours, on weekends, for emergencies, or be on-call as needed to ensure work is completed Safety Awareness and Compliance: • Observes hazards and reports any concerns or accidents to a supervisor or safety professional; participates in the investigation process as needed, • Understands, completes, and signs off all pre-job safety planning tools at the start and end of the shift; completes all required safety-related paperwork, • Understands and responds appropriately to all safety hazards and warning devices (e.g., back-up alarms, smell of smoke, fumes, odors, different colored warning tags, warning sirens), • Upholds a secure work environment by adhering to regulations, procedures, and company policies, ensuring safety standards are consistently maintained Supervisory Responsibilities: • Adheres to team procedures and guidelines, as well as policies outlined in the Race Communications Employee Handbook., • Provides support in identifying training needs and supports professional development initiatives to enhance team skills and performance. Helps onboard and mentor new team members to ensure they are equipped with the knowledge and skills needed to perform their roles safely and effectively., • Provides support to team members on various team matters, ensuring alignment with organizational policies and applicable laws., • Collaborates with team members to maintain a positive work environment by fostering open communication, addressing minor conflicts, and escalating issues as needed., • Helps ensure team members have the tools and resources needed to succeed, assisting in tracking progress toward goals and providing status updates as requested., • Assists in maintaining compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements, ensuring team alignment with organizational standards.
