Job Description SCOPE OF WORK: The Assistant Director of Training & Development is a key member of the HR Department responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating training programs that promote professional development, compliance, and continuous improvement across the organization. This position supports the growth and capacity of staff working in a variety of human service programs, including, housing, case management, behavioral health and administrative services. The Assistant Director will also collaborate on core HR functions such as onboarding, performance management, compliance training, and organizational development, while ensuring alignment with the organization's mission and values. ACCOUNTABILITIES: • Design, deliver, and oversee staff training programs, workshops, and learning opportunities for employees at all levels, with a focus on equity, ethics, trauma-informed care, professional boundaries, communication and cultural competency., • Conduct needs assessment in collaboration with department leaders to identify skill gaps and training priorities., • Maintain an annual training calendar and coordinate all logistics, including scheduling, materials, facilitators, and evaluation., • Develop or source curriculum content that is mission-aligned and relevant to non-profit and human services work., • Implement systems to track training completion, evaluate effectiveness, and report on key metrics., • Develop onboarding modules for new hire, ensuring a consistent and supportive integration experience., • Collaborate with HR staff on onboarding, employee engagement initiatives, and leadership development programs., • Ensure training content meets state, federal, and contractual compliance standards, including HIPAA, OSHA, and workplace harassment prevention., • Serve as a consultant to managers on staff development planning and performance coaching., • Participate in the development, implementation and communication of a variety of HR programs including benefit administration, retirement, wellness and other HR activities., • Plans, organizes, and coordinates quarterly employee health and wellness activities to ensure all programs are accessible to all employees., • Provide and execute learning and development content including training documentation, performance tracking and training delivery., • Lead or support internal engagement surveys and follow-up action planning., • Develop, update, and/or present various communications (e.g., announcements, newsletter articles, materials for meetings and trainings)., • Plans and supports organizational leadership projects, trainings and employee events (e.g., employee recognition and staff trainings)., • Attends human resource related seminars and conferences and stays current on trends and legal requirements., • Directs the day-to-day activities of staff assigned under their supervision while monitoring and tracking workload and assignments., • Assists in serving as a strategic partner and assists in developing and maintaining open and cooperative communication with Directors., • Performs other duties including but not limited to fulfillment of work schedules, adherence to attendance policies, and other applicable operating rules, policies and procedures. SKILLS & ABILITIES: • Requires bachelor's degree in human resources, Organizational Development, Education, or related field. OR an equivalent combination of experience and education., • At least 2-3 years of professional experience in training, adult education, or HR in a non-profit or human services environment., • Strong understanding of HR practices, compliance training, and workforce development., • Excellent facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills., • Ability to design curriculum, evaluate outcomes, and adapt to diverse learning styles., • Proficiency in MS Office and HR software (HRIS)., • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines., • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve issues effectively and efficiently., • Effective teambuilding, organizational, and leadership skills., • Strong presentation skills, • Demonstrated knowledge of software technology and proficiency with remote meeting technologies, • Demonstrated ability for building relationships and working collaboratively with a variety of individuals building trust within the HR team and other individuals., • Demonstrated team player skills including the willingness to collaborate, share information and contribute to the team's success., • Ability to exercise tact and diplomacy in conflict resolution., • Ability to conduct research, create and develop presentations utilizing presentation software., • Ability to train others and establish learning objectives in a changing environment and review/interpret data., • Ability to provide exceptional customer service and develop effective relationships., • Ability to prepare logical, comprehensive, concise reports and correspondence, and presentations of conclusions and recommendations., • Ability to accurately record and deliver information, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality of restricted information., • Ability to perform successfully under moderately stressful conditions., • Ability to advise and interpret on the application of policies, procedures and standards to specific situations., • Ability to explain, demonstrate and clarify to others, the understanding of the well-established principles, practices, policies and procedures., • Ability to supervise, mediate, persuade and influence others., • Ability to advise and interpret on the application of policies, procedures, and standards to specific situations. WORK CONDITIONS & ENVIRONMENT: • Work is performed in an office setting as well as traveling to various site locations., • Must be able to sit, walk and stand for long periods., • Must be able to bend, stoop and reach., • Must be able to exert physical effort in light to moderate work involving lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling., • Must be able to read, understand, and explain various forms including oral presentations and written material.
