Organization: Ronald McDonald House Tampa Bay (RMHTB) has been working to improve the health and well-being of children and their families since 1980. Our primary program, the Ronald McDonald House, provides a place to stay for families that have children receiving medical treatment at Tampa Bay hospitals and outpatient centers. RMHTB operates 5 Ronald McDonald Houses in Tampa Bay, 3 located in St. Petersburg and 2 located in Tampa. Position Summary: The HR Generalist supports the organization's people operations by administering core human resources functions in alignment with organizational policies, employment law, and nonprofit best practices. This role is responsible for employee onboarding, benefits administration, recruitment and hiring support, background checks, training coordination, and employee engagement processes. The HR Generalist collaborates closely with Business Services, House Operations, and leadership teams to ensure a positive employee experience and to support the organization's mission through effective, compliant, and responsive HR operations. This role balances compliance and operational excellence with a people‑centered approach that supports RMHTB's mission and the well‑being of those who deliver it. HR Core Functions: • Administer employee benefits programs, including enrollments, changes, and terminations, and serve as a point of contact for employee benefits questions., • Coordinate and process employee background checks in accordance with organizational policy and regulatory requirements., • Support recruitment and hiring activities, including job postings, candidate coordination, and hiring documentation., • Manage employee onboarding processes, including Client Wizard setup, IT support submissions, E‑Verify completion, activation of floating holidays and prorated accruals for full‑time employees, adding employee insurance, Global RMH access, and assigning required iSolved learning modules (sexual harassment, HIPAA, and safety)., • Coordinate training and development activities to support employee compliance, growth, and engagement., • Administer and support employee recognition, engagement, and culture‑reinforcing initiatives aligned with RMHTB values., • Ensure employee reviews are completed, documented, and properly filed; send reminders and calendar invitations for all managers as needed., • Collaborate with Business Services, House Operations, and leadership teams to support staffing needs, employee transitions, and continuity of operations across multiple sites., • Supporting a positive, inclusive, and mission‑aligned employee experience across the full employee lifecycle, from onboarding through ongoing development and engagement., • Partnering with managers to apply people practices with empathy, consistency, and professionalism, particularly in a family‑centered, emotionally demanding care environment., • Identifying themes, trends, or risks related to employee engagement, morale, retention, or compliance, and providing insights and best practices through a organization wide approach., • Reinforcing a culture of accountability, trust, and care through consistent application of policies, training, recognition, and performance processes. JOB QUALIFICATIONS: Required Knowledge/Experience/Skills Include: • Bachelor's degree in human resources, business administration, or a related field preferred., • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in an HR or people operations role., • Working knowledge of benefits administration, onboarding, and HR compliance processes., • Proficiency in HRIS platforms and Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)., • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail., • Ability to handle confidential employee information with discretion and professionalism., • Excellent verbal and written communication skills., • Ability to multitask, prioritize workload, and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment. Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Experience: • Experience working in a nonprofit or mission‑driven organization., • Familiarity with iSolved, E‑Verify, or similar benefits administration platforms., • Cross‑functional collaboration in mission settings. Mental Demands: Ability to read, interpret, and comprehend administrative documents and tasks. Must perform detailed work requiring reasoning, problem‑solving, and sound judgment, and manage multiple priorities in a dynamic work environment. Requires emotional intelligence and sound judgment when supporting employees in a mission‑driven, family‑centered care environment. Physical Demands: Primarily office‑based work with periodic physical activity required to support mission and operational needs. Must be able to stand, walk, bend, and lift or move supplies or materials weighing up to approximately 40 pounds during events or operational support activities. The successful candidate will be required to meet our pre-employment background screening requirements.
