Job DescriptionOnly Angels Home Health and Hospice, LLC in Wichita, KS Occupational Therapy AssistantFull Time, Part Time and PRN$50 - $55 per visit (DOE) Looking for an Occupational Therapy Assistant role that puts you in control? Position Summary The Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA) provides skilled occupational therapy treatment services to patients in their homes under the supervision and direction of a licensed Occupational Therapist (OT). Services are provided in accordance with the patient’s established plan of care, physician orders, agency policies, Medicare Conditions of Participation, and CHAP standards. The OTA delivers patient-centered care focused on functional performance, safety, caregiver education, and quality of life, consistent with the goals of home health and hospice services. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesClinical Care • Provide occupational therapy treatment interventions delegated by the supervising Occupational Therapist (OT) in accordance with the established plan of care, • Implement therapeutic activities, adaptive techniques, and use of assistive devices as directed by the OT, • Observe and document patient response to treatment and report any changes in condition to the supervising OT, • Educate patients and caregivers on therapeutic activities, safety strategies, and home programs as directed by the OT, • Support functional independence, comfort, and safety appropriate to the patient’s diagnosis, prognosis, and care setting (home health or hospice)Documentation & Communication, • Complete accurate, timely clinical documentation in accordance with agency policy, payer requirements, and regulatory standards, • Communicate clinical observations and patient progress to the supervising OT to support reassessment or modification of the plan of care, • Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, case conferences, and discharge planning as appropriate, • Collaborate with nursing, therapy, and other care team members to ensure coordinated patient careCompliance & Professional Practice, • Practice within the scope of an Occupational Therapy Assistant as defined by Kansas law and Medicare regulations, • Adhere to agency policies, CHAP standards, infection control practices, and patient confidentiality requirements, • Maintain professional competence through continuing education and participation in required training, • Perform other related duties as assigned and consistent with OTA scope of practice Scope of Practice Clarification The Occupational Therapy Assistant does not perform patient evaluations, re-evaluations, establish or modify plans of care, conduct admissions, or independently verify physician orders. These responsibilities are performed by the supervising Occupational Therapist and/or other authorized clinicians. Job Conditions / Physical Requirements • Ability to hear, see, and communicate effectively to provide patient care and education, • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, and assist with patient mobility as needed, • Ability to lift and/or carry up to 30 pounds; assist with patients weighing up to 250 pounds using proper techniques and equipment, • Ability to travel between patient homes within the service area, • Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing Equipment & Records • Use of occupational therapy equipment and other medical equipment as appropriate, • Access to patient medical records in accordance with HIPAA and agency policy, • Compliance with all documentation, privacy, and security requirements Qualifications • Current Kansas licensure as an Occupational Therapy Assistant (OTA), • Graduation from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program, • Successful completion of the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) exam for OTAs, • Current CPR certification through an approved provider (in-person skills verification required), • Ability to successfully pass a background check, drug screening, and other pre-employment requirements, • Reliable transportation and ability to meet scheduled patient visits Equal Opportunity Employer Only Angels Home Health and Hospice, LLC is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, age, disability, national origin, veteran status, or any other protected By applying to this job, you agree to receive periodic text messages from this employer and Homebase about your pending job application.
