Salary: $34.81-$41.85/hour The posted salary reflects the full pay range for this position. Position Overview: The Safety and Security Coordinator helps ensure a safe, compliant work environment by managing occupational safety protocols and emergency preparedness, as well as physical security measures, to mitigate financial impact and support staff and residents. In this role, you’ll be responsible for conducting risk assessments, implementing safety trainings, overseeing CCTV systems, and supporting emergency response planning, as well as investigating incidents, maintaining security systems, and acting as a liaison with law enforcement to prevent, detect, and respond to threats. The Safety Coordinator provides support and back up to the Site Safety & Security Manager in addressing and responding to portfolio security incidents. Work Schedule: Onsite, Monday-Friday 8:30 am – 5:00 pm. The final schedule will be determined by the supervisor. Your Impact: Organizational Policy Development • Promote safety and health awareness through internal communications and training programs., • Prepare written safety and health programs and policies., • Collaborate with the Site Safety & Security Manager on safety programs and training that span workplace safety and security., • Identify organizational safety training needs and develop and coordinate training programs in accordance with OSHA and the Washington Administrative Code (WAC)., • Understand federal and state occupational safety regulations and monitor regulatory changes., • Annually review and update compliance with safety plans and policies., • Oversee and facilitate Bellwether’s Administrative Office Safety Committee (monthly)., • Establish monthly safety topics for all site staff and monitor adherence., • Manage and coordinate new hire training for all staff, including but not limited to accident/incident reporting, bloodborne pathogens, and various safety topics for frontline staff., • Coordinate and facilitate staff training on Emergency Action Plans, building evacuation routes, fire safety, proper chemical use, asbestos/mold remediation & dumpster moving equipment., • Lead risk management activities across the entirety of the Bellwether Housing organization, including administrative offices and residential properties., • Create/ maintain/ update building-specific emergency action plans and disaster preparedness kits. Audit materials and plans regularly and conduct new hires and annual staff training., • Manage chemical program for buildings, ensuring staff are utilizing authorized chemicals, and maintain SDS sheets, • Support Bellwether personnel in selecting appropriate personal protective equipment., • Conduct annual safety and health walk-through inspections of Bellwether properties., • Maintain records of training, inspections, and other required compliance documents in accordance with OSHA and the Washington Administrative Code (WAC)., • Verify through periodic site inspections that workplace safety documents are available and up to date., • Audit and manage contracted services for the required safety and first-aid supplies. Ensure adequate supplies are maintained., • Assist in the review and approval of outside contractor safety programs., • Ensure that all life safety systems and related equipment are fully functional., • Assist in conducting and coordinating fire watch, as necessary., • Assist as a first responder to fires occurring at a building, assisting onsite staff as needed., • Develop training for staff and building residents on fire prevention, responding to fire alarms, emergency evacuation plans, and conducting routine fire drills., • Respond to critical incidents, such as crises, emergencies, and natural disasters, by providing direct intervention, triage, and stabilization services in-person and/or by phone. Offer support to staff in the form of guidance, consultation, and assistance., • Collaborate with local law enforcement, emergency management personnel, and other government officials related to crisis and disaster response. Minimum Requirements • 2 to 3 years of related experience and/or training in workplace safety, or equivalent combination of education and experience., • Strong understanding of occupational safety standards (OSHA), building fire codes, and physical security measures., • Certification in CPR and first aid., • Demonstrated interpersonal, influence, and collaboration skills to effectively partner with leaders and peers in multiple departments and disciplines, • Experience in monitoring CCTV/surveillance assets and security management software., • Excellent critical thinking abilities to interpret and implement regulation and execution plans, • Excellent interpersonal skills for training, reporting incidents, and liaising with law enforcement., • Experience facilitating and/or developing Safety training, • Computer literacy skills and comfort with various types of technology used in the industry, • Ability to work well as a team and interact with different groups of people, • Ability to conduct walkthroughs of job sites or facilities for inspections., • Certified Safety Professional (CSP), • Board of Certified Safety Professionals certified (BCSP), • Institute for Safety and Health Management (ISHM) certified, • Risk Management Certification, • Lead and Asbestos Certification, • OSHA Certification 30 Certification, • Management experience preferred, • Project management skills, familiarity with project management software, • Broad knowledge of safety practices, risk, and compliance trends, issues, business operations, and regulations, • Competitive compensation accompanied by a generous benefits package., • Medical, dental, and vision insurance., • A 403(b)-retirement plan with an employer match, guiding you towards a prosperous future., • Fuel for your personal and professional development with up to $1,500 in employer-paid continuing education per year., • An ORCA Transit Pass to navigate the city with ease., • Up to 24 paid days off in your first year, prorated personal days renewed annually, and 8 paid office closure days.
