Responsibilities: • Prepare journal entries on a monthly basis., • Reconcile general ledger accounts on a monthly basis., • Process accounts receivable cash receipts., • Process invoices into computer system., • Assistance with various tax returns and annual audit preparation, • Communicate with co-workers, management, clients, vendors, and others in a courteous and professional manner., • Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures, and instructions., • Basic understanding of general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, income tax and banking working knowledge., • Must be able to work independently., • Must be detail oriented and organized., • Must be able to work on many different projects at one time

Job Description The Salvation Army, Syracuse Area Services is presently conducting a search for an Accountant to join our Team of Accounting Professionals within the Finance Department for this division of The Salvation Army. The role of an Accountant is to work with their assigned internal customers. You are assigned to specific Departments/Programs where they are responsible for managing the contracts awarded to specific programs. Review of newly awarded contracts, create and monitoring of budgets, General Ledger, billing and will work with Department Heads on the understanding and spend of each contract awarded to their Programs. This position will report directly to the Director of Finance.
