Job DescriptionJob Title: Fabrication Specialist Job Description The Fabrication Specialist is responsible for creating structural, mechanical, and electrical components based on engineering drawings and CAD models. This role requires interpreting 2D and 3D models to layout, machine, assemble, wire, and test parts and subassemblies. The specialist will use various tools and equipment, including hand and power tools, drill presses, saws, and presses, while performing soldering, crimping, and wiring tasks. Responsibilities • Fabricate structural, mechanical, and electrical components per engineering drawings and CAD models., • Interpret 2D drawings and 3D models to layout, machine, assemble, wire, and test parts and subassemblies., • Operate hand and power tools, precision measuring equipment, and fabrication equipment., • Perform soldering, crimping, and wiring as required., • Set up machines and perform tasks such as machining, welding, sheet metal fabrication, and tube bending., • Assemble and repair precision mechanical and electro-mechanical components., • Install and repair various power plants and drive trains., • Perform soldering on electronic and avionics products., • Assemble and install wire harnesses and avionics products., • Prepare test articles, fixtures, and data collection devices for various tests., • Apply routine organic coatings for corrosion protection and appearance requirements., • Work in a safety/FOD sensitive environment around sensitive components and hardware., • Build and validate prototypes and small production runs, perform fit checks and functional tests., • Collaborate with engineers, technicians, and project leads to resolve design or manufacturability issues., • Strong mechanical aptitude with tools, fixtures, and mechanical systems., • Competence in reviewing and interpreting 2D drawings and 3D CAD models such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD., • Former or current military experience with familiarity in military standards and procedures., • Three years of fabrication or assembly experience in metalwork, wiring/ECU integration, or mechanical assembly., • High school diploma or GED with at least one year of related experience or equivalent education and experience. Work Environment The work location is at the Michould Assembly Facility with primary working hours on the first shift, starting at 6:00 am and ending at 2:30 pm. There may be domestic travel required, accounting for about 10% of the time, and work will be conducted onsite at a military base. Adherence to the corporate credit card and travel expense policies is mandatory. Contractors must complete necessary training before applying for a corporate credit card. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of New Orleans, Louisiana. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $30.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
