American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN OR - Operating Room for a travel nursing job in Springfield, Illinois. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: OR - Operating Room, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 03/23/2026, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 40 hours per week, • Shift: 10 hours, days, • Employment Type: Travel Assignment Overview • Shift: Days, 4x10hrs, • Hours: 40 hrs/wk, • Start Date: Mar 23, 2026, • Length: 13 weeks, • Large, 23-room OR department within a 562-bed Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma acute care hospital, • Works across all surgical service lines except cardiovascular (CV), • Schedule is 4x10-hour shifts, days (8:45–19:15), • One weekend shift required per month, • On-call required approximately once per week, • Floating within skill set is possible but rarely occurs, • Charting is done in Cerner (experience preferred), • Scrubs are provided for this role, • Free parking is available on-site (permit required), • Block scheduling cannot be accommodatedRequirements, • Active IL RN license in hand or actively in the application process, • Minimum 3 years of OR nursing experience, • Level I Trauma center experience required, • General OR and trauma experience required, • BLS required; CNOR preferred, • Required bariatric case experience: laparoscopic-assisted cases, • Required general surgery experience: appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair (inguinal/umbilical), laparoscopic-assisted procedures, mastectomy, thyroidectomy (partial/total), Whipple procedure, • Required neurology case experience: cervical fusion, craniotomy, laminectomy/discectomy, lumbar fusion, • Required orthopedic case experience: arthroscopy, carpal tunnel release, closed and open reduction of fractures, • Required plastic surgery experience: free flap (microvascular), • Required transplant experience: organ donation, • Required urology experience: cystoscopy, nephrectomy, prostatectomy, • Required trauma case experience: amputations, gunshot/stab wounds, MVA (multiple injuries), • Required emergency management skills: code response, fire safety, latex allergy management, malignant hyperthermia, • Required equipment experience: electrosurgical units, fiber optic light sources/cords, Hana tables, • Required professional skills: administration of blood products, infection control, radiation safety, specimen handling/labeling, Universal Protocol (time-out procedure), urinary bladder catheterization, • 2 professional references from a supervisor within the past 2 years required for consideration, • Full 7-year work history with all gaps explained required for considerationAdditional Information, • First-time travelers are not eligible for this position, • Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible to apply, • All time-off requests must be submitted upfront and are subject to manager review and approval With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
