Job DescriptionGMP Facilities Utilities Technician (Pharma OSD) Location: Tampa, FL Duration: 12-month contract with potential extension or conversion to full-time Compensation: $55/hr – $65/hr A day in the life You arrive on site and start with safety—PPE on, permits confirmed, and a quick review of overnight alarms. A walkthrough of cleanrooms and support areas follows: you scan walls, ceilings, doors, lighting, and environmental conditions to protect cleanroom integrity. You log utility rounds—purified water, HVAC, compressed air, chilled water, and electrical panels—documenting readings and status in the CMMS. If an alarm chirps, you respond, reset per SOPs, and verify system performance. Mid-morning, you swap out filters, replace a faulty lamp ballast, and help trace a low-voltage lighting issue. After lunch, a vendor arrives for pest control; you escort them, ensure GMP and safety protocols are followed, validate scope completion, and close out documentation. Before heading out, you update equipment histories, note any parts needed, flag a recurring failure to leadership, and confirm the backup generator test window for tomorrow’s emergency response drill. What you’ll do Routine maintenance and facility support • Inspect and maintain building infrastructure: walls, ceilings, doors, lighting, and cleanroom integrity; conduct regular facility walk-throughs., • Perform preventive maintenance on exhaust fans, compressed air lines, eye wash stations, and minor plumbing tasks., • Handle basic electrical work: outlet/switch checks, lamp replacements, and troubleshooting lighting circuits., • Assist with janitorial tasks when needed (sweeping, mopping, general area upkeep)., • Use ladders, lifts, and hand tools safely to complete assigned work. Utility systems, • Perform and document operational rounds for purified water, HVAC, compressed air, chilled water, and electrical panels., • Execute filter changes, system resets, and alarm responses per SOPs/checklists., • Participate in LOTO, startup support, and emergency response activities., • Assist with minor repairs/parts replacement on pumps, valves, gearboxes, regulators, and support equipment. Electrical, mechanical, and refrigeration, • Replace lamps, ballasts, fuses, switches, and other low‑voltage components. Contractor and vendor oversight, • Escort/supervise contractors performing facility services (e.g., pest control)., • Verify scope completion, safety adherence, and GMP compliance., • Support quality checks, documentation, and work closeout after vendor activities. CMMS and documentation (GMP/GDP), • Execute PMs, repairs, and service requests in the CMMS; maintain clear, accurate, traceable entries per Good Documentation Practices (GDP)., • Record problem/failure mode, suspected root cause, parts replaced (with part numbers when applicable), tools/materials, and corrective actions., • Capture before/after conditions where relevant and verify restored function., • Complete timestamps, signatures/initials, and required reviews/approvals., • Update equipment histories for audit traceability and escalate recurring issues to Facilities leadership., • Report follow‑ups (repairs, parts procurement, engineering support) and help refine job plans/PMs based on repair history and feedback., • Maintain CMMS housekeeping: promptly close completed work orders and track outstanding tasks. Safety, environmental, and emergency support, • Follow EHS protocols including electrical safety, confined space, LOTO, and hot work permits., • Identify/report unsafe conditions, building hazards, or utility risks immediately., • Respond to facility alarms and equipment failures; support emergency systems including backup power generation. Other duties as assigned, • Support special projects and cross‑functional priorities as directed by leadership., • Adapt to evolving business needs beyond standard duties to ensure safe, compliant, reliable operations. What you’ll bring, • HS Diploma or GED., • 0–2 years of experience (exposure to GMP/regulated environments a plus)., • Working knowledge of hand tools, PPE, and safe work practices., • Ability to execute routine PMs and simple repairs (e.g., filter changes, lamp replacement)., • Familiarity with HVAC, compressed air, purified water, and basic facility systems., • Comfort using a CMMS and following SOPs, work instructions, and basic technical diagrams., • Clear communication with supervisors and accurate work logs. Physical and scheduling requirements, • Access all manufacturing, packaging, utility, and lab areas, including elevated platforms, confined spaces, and equipment pits., • Lift/carry/push up to 25 lbs; perform repetitive tasks with manual dexterity and hand‑eye coordination for maintenance, repairs, calibration, and troubleshooting., • Read meters, gauges, schematics, displays, and labels with strong visual acuity and attention to detail., • Tolerate noise, vibration, heat, cold, dust, and cleaning chemicals with appropriate PPE., • Adhere to LOTO, confined space entry, and electrical safety procedures., • Provide after‑hours, weekend, or on‑call support for troubleshooting, planned maintenance, shutdowns, or calibration., • Bending, kneeling, climbing, and standing for extended periods as required by assigned work.
