Job DescriptionSalary: $58,000-$60,000 General Position Description: The Director of Developmentwillstrategize,create,and implement year-round engagement plans thatleadto effective and successful revenue generation to fuel our workand the work of our nonprofit partners.Activities include building relationships with community leadersand CEOs, organizing and implementing workplace campaigns,solicitingindividual,corporate,and sponsorshipgifts,responding toinformationrequests from company representatives and donors, and representing UWO as needed. Additionally, this positionwillidentify,recruit,and develop prospects for new business development on a year-round basis.Thisis a hands-on,in-the-community positionwhile also being a data driven, results oriented leader.The Director of Development must be aquick learner and motivated person who will translate community needs into opportunitiestomake a difference throughthefinancial support of UWO.This positionmay supervise part-time staff, interns, or volunteers. Essential Functions: Donor Managementand Campaign Strategy • Lead with a development mindset to create andidentifyopportunities to diversify our fundraising portfolio., • Develop, manage, and energize relationships with current and potential donors, including company leaders,Employee Campaign Managers (ECMs), employees, and volunteers to increase giving and engagement with United Way., • Manage assigned workplace campaigns (including agency partner workplace campaigns), individual gift solicitation, donor prospecting, and donor relationships., • Cultivate,solicitand steward existingand newleadership donorsandmajor giftsthrough personalized recognition and impact reporting., • Accompany UWO leadership and/or campaign cabinet volunteers tomeetingswith corporate partners to secure commitments for corporate giving, leadership giving, and employee workplace campaigns., • Review past giving and performance history for assigned companies and developappropriate strategiesfor engagementand growth., • Apply for grants and/or corporate donationsor sponsorships., • Assistin the development and implementation of fundraisingstrategies,including digital campaignsand direct mail campaigns., • Manage and co-lead training employee campaign managers at assigned workplace campaigns and campaign cabinet members., • Assistin the planning and implementation of the United Way Campaign Kickoff Event and other campaign-relatedspecial events. Data Management & Reporting • Utilize CRM database for entry and reporting, stay up todatewith CRM databaseprotocols,andidentifyopportunities for datato cleanup., • Set goals andmaintainaccuraterecords to track progress in the campaign, whileutilizingthe CRM database., • Collaborate with the UniFi team to ensureaccurateandtimelycollection andprocessingofpledgesand payments.Respond to inquiries,supportaccuratedata entry, reporting,and distribution of account information during annual fundraising efforts., • Manage donor-giving reports and related functions provided to UWO by third-party donation software used by UWOs corporate partners., • Maintain and update third-party platforms for compliance. Communication, Training & Support • Prepare and ensuretimely, personalized gift acknowledgments to donors with special attention to leadership and major donors., • Assistwith coordinating large direct mailingsand segmented communications to targeted donor groups., • Support the Vice President of Development and UWO team daily to ensure deadlines are met., • Work productively and collegially with other employees and external constituencies., • Support the recruitment and training of volunteers including campaign cabinet members, ECMs, and special event volunteers., • Collaborate with the marketing and community impact teams to develop compellingdonorfacing materials and impact stories that inspire giving. Representation & Public Engagement • Represent UWO professionally within the community, making presentations on behalf of theorganization,and attending events., • Participate in early morning and/or evening meetings and events, asrequired., • Attend conferences, workshops, or other training tomaintainprofessional development and continuously research fundraising best practices. Miscellaneous • All other duties as assigned. Required Qualifications/Skills: • Bachelor's degree in Human Services, Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, or another related field is preferred, but notrequired., • 5+years of professional experience in non-profit fundraising/development, sales, marketing, and/or other relevant experience ispreferred., • Experience in account management is preferred., • Software knowledge including CRM databases(i.e., Andar),Wordpress,MobileCause,Zeffyand Canva preferred, but notrequired., • Must have access to reliable transportation and have a valid drivers license/ID., • Mission Alignment:, • Passion for community and mission-based work., • Communication:, • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills;excellent written communication; andability to speak effectively in a public setting and make engaging presentations on behalf of the organization., • Project/Task Management:, • Very strong organizational skills,and attention to detailand follow through;flexible and calm under pressure with the ability to excel at multi-tasking, manage overlapping deadlines, and complete projects from start to finish;ability to work independently and make appropriate decisions with direction as needed; andability to analyze data, manage records, and create forms., • Teamwork/Collaboration:, • Ability to contribute and support the contributions of others in the pursuit of a common goal;ability to communicate the need foradditionalsupport; andability to think creatively and contribute ideas.
