Job Description Position Summary The Development Manager is responsible for leading and executing individual giving strategies that generate sustainable revenue and deepen donor engagement. This role manages donor relationships across the giving continuum—annual, major, monthly, and planned giving—and plays a central role in fundraising campaigns and special events. Working closely with the Fund Development Director, Executive Director, Board of Directors, and Marketing team, the Development Manager ensures that all fundraising efforts are donor-centered, data-informed, and aligned with Food Finders’ mission and values. The Development Manager reports directly to the Fund Development Director and collaborates cross-functionally with Marketing, Operations, and Programs. The Development Manager is expected to integrate and promote these values in all aspects of their work. Key Responsibilities Fundraising Strategy, Donor Engagement & Stewardship (Approximately 80%) • Manage and grow a portfolio of individual donors through personalized outreach, stewardship, and engagement strategies., • Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward donors across annual, major, monthly, and planned giving programs, aligning donor interests with organizational priorities., • Partner with the Executive Director and Board of Directors to support major and planned giving cultivation and solicitation efforts., • Meet or exceed annual individual giving revenue goals and key performance metrics., • Plan and execute multiple fundraising and donor engagement campaigns, including direct mail, digital, email, social media, and peer-to-peer fundraising initiatives., • Lead donor strategy and execution for the annual Share Table Appreciation Event., • Collaborate with the Marketing team to develop compelling fundraising content and campaign materials across all channels., • Ensure timely, accurate gift entry, acknowledgements, and donor recognition., • Track donor activity and engagement in DonorPerfect; produce regular reports, dashboards, and analysis to inform strategy and leadership decision-making., • Represent Food Finders at donor meetings, community events, and internal and external engagements., • Promote a culture of philanthropy across the organization by advancing donor-centered best practices., • Stay current with fundraising trends, tools, and best practices through ongoing professional development., • Plan, coordinate, and execute the annual fundraising event in collaboration with the Executive Director, Fund Development Director, Director of Operations, and Marketing Manager., • Oversee event fundraising components including in-kind donations, auctions, fund-a-need, ticketing, registration, guest communications, and post-event reporting., • Train and manage event volunteers Education Bachelor’s degree in Nonprofit Management, Communications, Marketing, or a related field preferred. Experience • 3–5 years of progressively responsible experience in nonprofit fundraising or development., • Proven success in individual donor cultivation and stewardship, including major gifts., • Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and project management skills., • Excellent written and verbal communication abilities, with experience crafting donor-focused narratives., • Proficiency with donor databases and fundraising tools (e.g., DonorPerfect, Salesforce, Greater Giving, Bidding for Good)., • High level of organizational skill with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines., • Strong interpersonal skills and comfort engaging with diverse stakeholders., • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Google Workspace, Excel, PowerPoint, Canva, and related tools., • Familiarity with the local philanthropic and nonprofit landscape is strongly preferred., • Demonstrated passion for food justice, hunger relief, environmental stewardship, and human services Additional Requirements • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-oriented environment., • Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends for events and donor engagement., • Salary Range: $65,000–$68,000 annually, commensurate with experience. By diverting edible food, we reduce greenhouse gas emissions, conserve resources and provide equitable access to food. Food Rescue and distribution is the cornerstone of our operation. Operating 365 days a year, we recover 1.3 million pounds of food monthly, connecting more then 500 donors to 300 nonprofit partners across LA, OC, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties. Our only direct food distribution happens at our Community Marketplace, from a refrigerated shipping container located at Admiral Kidd Park in Long Beach. Through our Food 4 Kids program we distribute 1700 weekend meal boxes to students in 47 Long Beach schools.
