Job Description Trauma Counselor Summary: Safe Horizon’s Safe Way forward program provides comprehensive trauma-informed client-centered services to families who are affected by intimate partner violence and are involved in the child welfare system. Our goal is help those who have experienced physical, emotional or other forms of abuse to establish long-term safety and healing from the effects of trauma. Safe Horizon uses a client centered, trauma informed, anti-oppressive approach to supporting clients. Safe Horizon recognizes that families who have experienced intimate partner violence may want to or need to stay in contact with the person causing harm in the family. The Safe Way forward program (SWF) was designed to engage family members with support to assist in healing and explore ways for families to maintain contact where safe to do so. In this model, all participating members of the family are considered clients (survivor, person causing harm, and their children). Hybrid schedule: 2 days on site, 3 days remote. At six sleepaway camps in New York’s Mid-Hudson Valley, children have new experiences, learn new skills and gain new perspectives. Youth also participate in year-round leadership, career exploration and educational programs. The Fresh Air Fund’s Development Associate supports the department in administrative and operational roles. The Associate position is an excellent opportunity to learn about all aspects of fundraising in a non-profit. Position Summary: The Development Associate is an important part of the donor relations team, ensuring that donation and donor information is accurately entered into The Fund’s database, that donors are acknowledged in a timely manner, and that members of the Development team and external vendors receive accurate and timely information. Job Description Summary StreetWork Project is the oldest street outreach program for homeless and street-involved youth in New York City. The program has grown from its beginnings in 1984 as a storefront project to encompass both outreach and comprehensive harm reduction services. Streetwork’s programs are innovative outreach-counseling programs for homeless youth, which use a harm reduction, client centered, and trauma informed approach. Services include counseling, HIV prevention, case management, drop-in, daily living services, meals, groups, legal services, syringe exchange and overdose prevention services, mental health, and medical. Job Description THE ORGANIZATION The Center for Justice Innovation is a nonprofit organization dedicated to advancing community safety and racial justice. Since 1996, we’ve worked alongside communities, courts, and those most directly affected by the justice system to build stronger, healthier, and more equitable neighborhoods. With a team of over 900 staff and an annual budget of $130 million, the Center carries out its mission through three core strategies: • Operating Programs that pilot new ideas and address local challenges;, • Conducting original research to evaluate what works—and what doesn’t; and THE OPPORTUNITY Operating within the Bronx criminal courthouse, Bronx Community Solutions (BCS) is a project of the Center that provides meaningful early diversion, pre-plea and post-conviction sentencing options to participants, in lieu of traditional outcomes. By participating in one of BCS’ programs, participants are connected to an array of onsite staff, including social workers, case managers, and group facilitators, with the goal of addressing underlying social service needs and connecting participants to an array of community-based organizations, using the arrest as a window of opportunity to change the direction of an individual’s life and avoid unnecessary incarceration. Bronx Community Solutions (BCS) is seeking a Resource Navigator, who will report to the Clinical Director with the support of the Safety and Empowerment Social Worker. The Resource Navigator will be stationed in the Family Justice Center (FJC), 198 East 161st Street, 2nd Floor and Bronx Criminal Court, 215 E 161st Street, 2nd Floor. They will work closely with individuals seeking assistance and requiring services at the FJC for any type of domestic and gender-based violence. They must be prepared to provide information on programs and services, screen clients, address immediate client needs, and liaise with FJC staff, BCS staff and stakeholders.
