Model Validator Model Validations Team, Insurance, Product & Model Risk Full Time Springfield, MA, Boston, MA or New York, NY The Opportunity As a member of the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) organization at MassMutual, you will partner with various business areas to conduct independent model validations for a wide variety of models, integral to critical business decision making, product pricing, financial reporting, risk mitigation activities and business processes. The Team The Model Validations team is comprised of seasoned professionals with expertise in actuarial, financial, risk, investment and capital markets models, who are also building knowledge in emerging areas of importance, such as data science, machine learning and artificial intelligence. The Opportunity This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated and collaborative risk professional with strong quantitative and development expertise to join the Credit Risk Management team within the Capital and Investment Risk Management team and the broader Enterprise Risk Management division. Responsibilities: • Collaborate with scientists and researchers in various areas to develop state-of-the-art algorithms, software, and computer systems solutions to challenging problems., • Assess the requirements for data science research from Applied Physics and the Advanced Propulsion Laboratory., • Engage with other developers frequently to share relevant knowledge, opinions, and recommendations, working to fulfill deliverables as a team., • Design technical solutions independently, participating as a member of a multidisciplinary team to analyze client requirements and designs, and implementing software and performing analyses to address these needs., • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or related field, or the equivalent combination of education and related experience., • Comprehensive knowledge of one or more of the following: high-performance computing, scientific data analysis, statistical analysis, computer security, systems programming, and/or large-scale data management., • Skilled in all phases of software development, including but not limited to feasibility requirements, design, implementation, integration, testing, and deployment., • Experience developing software with C++, C, Java, Python, R, or Matlab, software applications in Linux, UNIX, Windows environments, data analysis algorithms, data management approaches, relational databases, or machine learning algorithms., • Ability to successfully handle multiple time-sensitive projects across several disciplines. Position Overview:We are seeking highly motivated plasma physicists to join our team, focusing on analysis and simulation of the divertor region of a stellarator magnetic field. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in plasma physics, with a particular emphasis on plasma fluid models, neutral particle models, and/or atomic processes within a plasma. Experience with the boundary of fusion devices is a plus. You will work with an exciting and dynamic team, contributing to cutting-edge research and development in Thea Energy’s stellarator systems.Key responsibilities: • Develop and implement algorithms for the simulation of fluid plasma within a complex magnetic edge topology., • Conduct simulations and analysis of collisional edge plasma in stellarators, coupled with neutral-particle and atomic physics models., • Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams to design a stellarator divertor system., • Perform data analysis, model validation, and provide insights into the physical mechanisms governing plasma behavior., • Prepare technical reports, presentations, and publications based on simulation results and optimization findings., • Stay up to date with the latest advancements in computational plasma physics, fusion energy, and optimization techniques.
