Job Description Commercial Plumber (DoD Projects) Location: San Diego, CA (Naval Base Point Loma and surrounding military installations) Job Type: Full-Time Permon Contractors Inc. is a federal general contractor specializing in Department of Defense (DoD), federal, and commercial construction projects throughout Southern California. We are seeking an experienced Commercial Plumber to join our growing team. The Commercial Plumber is responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining commercial plumbing systems on Department of Defense construction projects. The ideal candidate is dependable, detail-oriented, and experienced in commercial construction, renovations, and design-build projects. Experience working in occupied facilities and secure government environments is highly desirable. Responsibilities • Install, repair, and maintain commercial plumbing systems, including domestic water, sanitary waste, vent, storm drain, and natural gas piping., • Install plumbing fixtures, valves, cleanouts, floor drains, water heaters, pumps, backflow preventers, and specialty plumbing equipment., • Perform underground plumbing installations, above-ground piping, rough-in, top-out, finish work, pressure testing, and system commissioning., • Read and interpret construction drawings, plumbing plans, specifications, isometric drawings, and submittals., • Coordinate plumbing work with project managers, superintendents, inspectors, subcontractors, and other trades., • Ensure all work complies with project specifications, Uniform Plumbing Code (UPC), manufacturer requirements, and applicable federal regulations., • Troubleshoot plumbing system issues and complete repairs efficiently while minimizing disruption to facility operations., • Verify field conditions and report conflicts or deficiencies before installation., • Maintain accurate daily reports and documentation of completed work., • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in compliance with OSHA regulations., • Follow all Department of Defense security requirements, base regulations, and company safety policies. Qualifications • Minimum 3 years of commercial plumbing experience., • Experience with new construction, renovations, and tenant improvement projects., • Experience on Department of Defense, federal, healthcare, or other institutional construction projects preferred., • Ability to read construction drawings, plumbing plans, and specifications., • Working knowledge of copper, cast iron, PVC, CPVC, ABS, PEX, and natural gas piping systems., • Experience performing pressure testing and plumbing system startup., • Strong troubleshooting, communication, and organizational skills., • Ability to work independently and as part of a team., • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation., • Ability to pass a background check and obtain military installation access. Preferred Qualifications • California Journeyman Plumber certification or equivalent trade experience., • OSHA 10 or OSHA 30 certification., • Experience with medical gas systems, backflow prevention, or specialty piping systems., • Experience with underground utility installation and site work., • Forklift, scissor lift, or boom lift certification., • Previous security clearance or ability to obtain one. Physical Requirements • Lift and carry up to 75 pounds., • Frequently stand, walk, kneel, bend, climb ladders, and work in confined spaces., • Safely operate hand tools, power tools, and plumbing equipment., • Work indoors and outdoors in varying weather conditions.
