Job DescriptionPrimary Job Title: Specimen Processing TechnicianAlternate/Related Job Titles: • Laboratory Processing Technician, • Specimen Accessioner, • Position Type: Contract, • Contract Duration: 2.5 months, • Start: As Soon As PossibleJob Summary:The Specimen Processing Technician (SPT I) provides vital support within the Specimen Processing Department, ensuring the accurate and efficient handling, labeling, and processing of clinical specimens. This position requires a strong background in data entry, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to perform in a fast-paced, production-driven environment. The SPT I helps maintain specimen integrity, ensures compliance with testing procedures, and supports the delivery of high-quality diagnostic services.Key Responsibilities:, • Perform a variety of specimen processing functions, including A-station, presort, pickup/delivery, imaging, centrifugation, and aliquoting., • Enter specimen data with precision, maintaining a standard of 6,000+ alphanumeric keystrokes per hour., • Ensure accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with laboratory protocols and regulations., • Maintain proper specimen identification and handle all materials per safety and biohazard guidelines., • Communicate effectively with laboratory personnel and other departments to ensure workflow continuity., • Adapt to frequent procedural changes and evolving client demands., • Maintain a neat, clean, and safe work environment, adhering to all safety and compliance policies., • Contribute to productivity and quality goals within a production-oriented laboratory setting., • Exhibit strong interpersonal skills that foster teamwork and a positive work environment., • Demonstrate flexibility to work nights, weekends, holidays, on-call, or overtime as needed.Required Qualifications:, • High school diploma or equivalent required., • Basic understanding of computer systems and data entry., • Ability to work in a biohazard environment, practicing proper safety habits., • Excellent organizational and time management skills., • Strong attention to detail and data accuracy.Preferred Qualifications:, • Previous laboratory or specimen processing experience., • Familiarity with medical terminology and laboratory testing procedures., • Background in medical, hospital, or production environments preferred.Required Skills:, • Data entry and specimen verification, • Laboratory safety and compliance, • Communication and teamworkPreferred Skills:, • Medical terminology and specimen handling, • Productivity and quality control awareness, • Adaptability in fast-paced settingsAdditional Skills:, • Workflow coordination and efficiency management, • Process accuracy under high-volume conditions, • Positive, collaborative work ethicBenefits:, • Medical, Vision, and Dental Insurance Plans, • 401k Retirement FundAbout the Client:A leading provider of diagnostic information services empowering healthier lives through advanced laboratory testing.
