About the job: About the Area The Global Institutional Business unit within BBVA's Corporate & Investment Banking (CIB) division is responsible for developing and managing relationships with institutional clients by offering a wide range of CIB products, including: • Global Markets, • Global Transactional Banking, • Banks, • Wealth and Asset Managers, • Insurance, • Public Sector, • Financial Sponsors In the United States, the Financial Sponsors practice primarily focuses on Global Infrastructure and Real Estate managers operating across BBVA's international footprint (U.S., Europe, Latin America, and Asia). Role Overview As a Senior Associate in the Financial Sponsors team, you will be part of a client-facing Origination Team within BBVA's CIB unit. This is a high-impact role focused on supporting Relationship Managers (RMs) in originating, marketing, and executing a full suite of banking products and services to Financial Sponsors, including: • Global infrastructure and energy funds, • Sovereign wealth funds, • Pension funds, • Portfolio companies You will work in close coordination with teams based in the U.S., Europe, and Latin America, as well as product and support teams (Risk, Legal, Operations, Finance, etc.) to successfully deliver business solutions and strengthen client relationships. This role offers significant exposure to senior leadership, international clients, and complex transactions - making it an excellent platform for career growth in Corporate and Investment banking. Key Responsibilities • Origination & Strategy Execution, • Support the execution of the Strategic plan, business objectives, and budget for the Financial Sponsors unit, • Assist in Identifying and originating new business opportunities across geographies, • Develop segment-specific expertise to drive client engagement and cross-sell initiatives, • Client Management, • Help manage a dedicated portfolio of U.S.-based clients, • Foster close senior-level client relationships in coordination with the relationship manager, • Business Development, • Collaborate with product teams to tailor solutions aligned with clients' investment strategies, • Leverage BBVA's global platform to understand and support clients' cross-border activities, • Work closely with M&A and Financing teams in Europe and Latin America to identify cross-border opportunities, • Transaction Execution & Oversight, • Oversee all phases of transaction execution and ensure alignment with internal risk, legal, and operational processes, • Prepare and present materials for credit committees, client meetings, and internal reviews, • Internal & External Engagement, • Participate at industry conferences and networking events related to Financial Sponsors and Infrastructure, • Play an active role in pipeline and strategy meetings, • Ensure strict compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements Required Skills and Experience • 5 years of work experience (with a minimum of 3 years of experience at a top-tier Corporate and/or Investment Banking or Consulting firm, ideally with exposure to Financial Sponsors), • Bachelor's degree required (Business, Finance, Accounting, or Economics preferred); MBA is a plus, • Bilingual in English and Spanish (Portuguese is a plus), • Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, CapIQ, and Bloomberg, • FINRA licenses (SIE, Series 7, 79, 63) required or to be completed upon employment Key Competencies and Attributes • Strong analytical, financial modeling, and presentation skills, • Excellent communication skills and cross-cultural effectiveness, • Proven ability to build strong clients and internal stakeholder relationships, • Results-driven, with a high degree of ownership and initiative, • Comfortable multitasking in a fast-paced environment with a strong attention to detail, • Solid understanding of financial products and banking services, • Proactive mindset and strong work ethic All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity, national origin, disability, or status as a protected veteran. With respect to this position in our New York Office, the expected base salary ranges from $120,000 to $140,000. It is not typical for offers to be made at or near the top of the range. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, and, where applicable, certifications obtained. Market and organizational factors are also considered.
