Position Title: Sr. Quality Engineer Duration: 6+ months with high possibilities of extension On-Site : Los Angeles, CA 90010 Pay Range: $60-66/hr on W2 Job Description: Sr. Quality Engineer Design Collaboration & Development • Partner with design teams to support the design development process, • Provide design for manufacturability (DFM) feedback, • Generate product data including drawing details, Bill of Materials (BOM) information, layouts, test requirements, and part requirements, • Ensure supplier quality success for avionics and PCBA parts Technical Leadership & Risk Management, • Use expertise in electronics materials, processes, DFM, and inspection/measurement to support internal design and innovation, • Provide leadership in managing technical risks, proof of concepts, prototyping, and scaling designs for volume production, • Support internal design development with hands-on technical guidance Supplier Quality Development, • Drive supplier quality development processes throughout product development stages, • Conduct design reviews, supplier process development, testing, and qualification for components and sub-assemblies, • Review supplier processes and capabilities for circuit cards, Line Replaceable Units (LRUs), sensors, power supplies, actuators, and other avionics modules, • Ensure alignment with electrical performance and sub-assembly requirements Cross-Functional Partnership, • Partner with development engineering, product quality engineering, product sourcing engineering, global strategic sourcing, and program management, • Deliver predictable supply for development and production programs, • Manage exceptions, containments, and deviations related to supplier technical performance during development phases Quality Readiness & Qualification, • Drive supplier quality readiness by analyzing key and critical characteristics for drawings and supplier specifications, • Develop measurement systems and conduct supplier qualification activities, • Execute Production Part Approval Process (PPAP), First Article Inspection Report (FAIR), audits, and inspection development Performance Management, • Partner with Global Strategic Sourcing and Product Sourcing Engineering to drive overall supplier performance, • Focus on cost, quality, delivery, and fulfilment of strategic program goals, • Own the elimination of supplier risk to improve quality and reliability across the product lifecycle Compliance & Auditing, • Utilize audits, readiness reviews, training, and documentation to ensure compliance, • Support Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) and Material Review Board (MRB) activities, • Own containments derived from purchased goods, • Review supplier effectiveness of actions and share lessons learned across the product team Corrective Action Management, • Drive the Supplier Corrective Action and Response (SCAR) process, • Audit Quality Management Systems at suppliers related to supplier quality and performance, • Define and improve required documentation and activities to ensure compliance with flow-down requirements from customers Supplier Audits & Reviews, • Prepare, support, and lead supplier onsite audits and reviews, • Ensure contract deliverables for quality management and compliance are met Basic Qualifications Education • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or similar technical field Experience, • Proven experience as a leader in Supplier Quality Engineering, Quality Engineering, or Manufacturing Engineering roles at an Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) company, • Experience with PCBAs or other electrical components for aerospace, aviation, defines, and space applications, • Experience scaling supplier capabilities and quality from prototype and proof of concept parts to low-rate production to high-rate production Technical Expertise, • Experience performing source inspection at electronics manufacturing suppliers (aerospace, aviation, or defense suppliers is a plus), • Experience with microprocessors/CPUs/GPUs, microcontrollers/FPGAs, memory devices, sensors, communication modules, power supply units, display units, actuators and servos, and connectors and cables, • Experience flowing down Source Control requirements to suppliers Quality Management Systems, • Working knowledge of AS9100/ISO 9001-based Quality Management System requirements (AS9100 Lead/Internal Auditor Certification is a plus), • Experience performing First Article Inspection to AS9102 Industry Standard, • Experience ensuring suppliers have control plans and inspection processes capable of meeting product requirements, • Experience with IPC-A-610, IPC-A-600, IPC-J-STD-001, IPC-7711/21, MIL-STD-810, and DO 160/DO178C, DO-254 is a plus Supplier Performance Management, • Experience driving supplier performance and evaluation, • Experience with Statements of Work (SOWs), quality clauses, intellectual property (IP), and government regulations such as International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR), and FAR/DFARS Methodologies & Tools, • Working knowledge of product development methodologies including Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) elements such as Measurement Systems Analysis (MSA), quality improvement techniques, and Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T), • Analytical skills and experience in data mining, data quality, metrics generation, issue management systems, and statistical analysis tools (MatLab, JMP, MiniTab), • Experience with Six Sigma and Lean Continuous Improvement methodologies Personal Attributes, • Strong ownership mindset with demonstrated capability to drive projects from start to completion, • Self-starter who works autonomously with minimal direction Security & Travel, • Must be able to travel up to 50% of the time to suppliers, sourcing partners, and manufacturing locations Preferred Qualifications Advanced Education • Master's degree in a technical field Specialized Experience, • Experience creating control plans and process specifications for electronics parts and sub-assemblies, • Experience with process qualification and development of automated inspection operations, • Familiarity with standard interfaces such as Ethernet, Controller Area Network (CAN), I2C, Serial Peripheral Interface (SPI), PCIe, and Universal Serial Bus (USB) Technical Competencies, • Competence with test equipment such as oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, thermal chambers, current probes, and test automation, • Experience with Process Failure Modes, Effects, and Analysis (PFMEA), • Experience developing source inspection plans and qualifying inspection process capabilities
