Job DescriptionJob Title: Travel Project Manager Job Description This role leads complex, large-scale construction projects from pre-construction through completion, with a strong emphasis on field leadership, financial management, and relationship building. The Travel Project Manager oversees project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and execution while collaborating closely with general contractors, owners, engineers, architects, and internal teams. This position requires frequent travel and the ability to manage multi-million-dollar projects in fast-paced, technically sophisticated environments, including data center projects. Responsibilities • Provide strong leadership to field project managers, general contractors, subcontractors, and owners to ensure successful project delivery., • Lead and consult with field project managers, general contractors, and owners to nurture productive, long-term relationships that support project success., • Manage the pre-construction and preplanning process, including the development and maintenance of comprehensive project schedules., • Oversee construction project scheduling from start to finish, ensuring alignment with budgetary and resource constraints., • Leverage strong relationships with general contractors and subcontractors to support project execution, maintain timelines, and control budgets., • Take full ownership and accountability for projects under your direction, ensuring they meet scope, schedule, quality, and financial targets., • Identify, analyze, and resolve complex problems related to project schedules and budgets as an active member of the project team., • Review and approve project budgets for labor, materials, and subcontractors, and determine allocation of manpower, equipment, and materials throughout the project lifecycle., • Negotiate and draft subcontractor contracts with external vendors to secure agreements that are beneficial to the project., • Manage overall project finances, including profitability, cost control, and cash flow management., • Provide indirect leadership and direction to construction crews to ensure safe, efficient, and high-quality work., • Participate actively in design conflict resolution across all trades, collaborating with engineers, architects, and other stakeholders to define project specifications and resolve design issues., • Lead strategic planning efforts for assigned projects, including the submittal process, requests for information (RFIs), and change order management., • Implement monthly cost reports and develop accurate cost projections to support proactive financial management., • Identify, recognize, and resubmit change orders as necessary to capture scope changes and protect project financial performance., • Review and approve supplier and subcontractor invoices, ensuring accuracy, compliance with contracts, and alignment with project budgets., • Ensure adherence to all health and safety standards on project sites and promptly report any issues or non-compliance., • Project, identify, and manage CAD, fabrication, and field labor resources required to meet project demands., • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by enforcing procedures, rules, and regulations on job sites and in the office., • Exercise direct responsibility for subcontractors, including oversight of their performance, safety, and compliance with project requirements., • Provide indirect oversight for field personnel and internal support services, ensuring alignment with project goals and schedules., • Exercise direct responsibility for project engineers (PEs) and/or assistant project managers (APMs), including mentoring and performance guidance., • Communicate clearly and professionally with internal and external stakeholders, including owners, general contractors, vendors, and project teams., • Organize, manage, and curate documents related to work orders, project records, and personnel to ensure accurate and accessible documentation., • Train estimating staff on the technical aspects of project management to improve project planning and cost estimating capabilities., • Understand company resource production capabilities and integrate them into the construction process by coordinating daily with the superintendent and other field leaders., • Professionally solicit vendors and suppliers during the procurement process to secure materials, equipment, and services that meet project requirements., • Apply mechanical knowledge and project management principles to oversee the installation and coordination of pipe systems and other mechanical components as required by the project scope.Essential Skills, • Strong leadership skills with the ability to guide and influence field project managers, subcontractors, and multidisciplinary teams., • Demonstrated project management experience in construction, including responsibility for multi-million-dollar complex projects., • In-depth understanding of construction procedures, materials, and project management principles., • Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills for effective coordination with owners, general contractors, engineers, architects, and internal teams., • Consistent dependability and availability to support fast-paced project demands., • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced construction office environment while managing multiple priorities., • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage and curate documents related to work orders, project records, and personnel., • Aptitude to learn and adapt to new systems, tools, and processes., • Mechanical knowledge, particularly related to construction and pipe systems., • Proficiency in construction project management processes, including scheduling, budgeting, change order management, and financial oversight., • Ability to train and mentor estimating staff on technical aspects of project management., • Ability to understand and apply company resource production capabilities in daily construction planning and coordination., • Professional procurement skills, including the ability to solicit vendors and suppliers and negotiate beneficial agreements., • Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university, or 10+ years of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience., • Experience leading large, multi-million-dollar complex construction projects, with a minimum of 4 years in a leadership capacity., • Experience in data center construction projects or similar high-complexity environments.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Degree in Construction Management, Construction Science, Mechanical Engineering, or a similar discipline is highly preferred., • Experience using Bluebeam software for document management, drawing review, and collaboration is highly valued., • Experience with Procore or similar construction management platforms is highly valued., • Experience managing pipe systems and mechanical scopes within large construction projects., • Experience working with CAD resources, fabrication teams, and field labor coordination., • Demonstrated ability to manage change orders, RFIs, and submittals in complex project environments., • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, particularly in resolving design conflicts and schedule or budget issues., • Experience implementing monthly cost reports and developing accurate cost projections., • Background in data center projects or other mission-critical facilities is a significant advantage., • Willingness and ability to travel for extended project assignments and transition to subsequent projects based on organizational needs.Work Environment This role operates primarily within a fast-paced construction project environment that combines office-based coordination with regular on-site presence. You will work closely with general contractors, subcontractors, engineers, architects, and internal teams on large, complex projects, including data center facilities. The position involves frequent and extended travel, as projects typically run for a little over a year, and you are expected to remain open to traveling to subsequent projects where demand is strongest. You will use modern construction technologies and tools, including project management platforms such as Procore and document management tools such as Bluebeam, as well as CAD resources and other digital systems. The work environment emphasizes safety, adherence to procedures, and maintaining clean and organized job sites and office spaces. Hours may extend beyond standard business schedules depending on project deadlines and field conditions, requiring flexibility and a strong commitment to project success. Job Type & Location This is a Contract position based out of Atlanta, GA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $57.00 - $86.00/hr.
