Job Description Mistras Group Inc. is in search of CR Rope Access technicians based out of our La Porte, TX office for work in Texas City, TX. Either certified as a Level I, II, or III Rope Access Technician (SPRAT or IRATA) with CR/DR certs/experience. Or individuals with an interest in obtaining such certifications through company training. Safety, integrity, technical capabilities, customer service, and an ability to function effectively in a team environment are essential. Rope Access Technicians are expected to serve as a positive and constructive role model and help each team member to excel with each job assignment. MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES/ACTIVITIES: • Represents MISTRAS in a positive and professional manner at all times, regardless of adversity., • Provides exemplary customer service and support (internal and external) that reflects integrity, collaboration, respect, and timely follow-through., • Works effectively within a team structure to complete field and administrative assignments on time, with good quality. Examples include Safe Work Plan (a/k/a. JHA), pre-planned rescue protocols, reports, and safety / operational field documentation., • In accordance with the Company’s safety procedures, reflects an intense focus on safety, health, and risk management concerns and takes pride in safeguarding self and others during each job assignment. Examples include ensuring all site permit restrictions, clearances, lock-out/tag-out procedures, JHA details, etc. are clearly known by all team members and that such mandates are followed consistently., • Conducts a daily safety meeting with all assigned personnel. If new hazards or mitigation strategies are warranted, revises the JHA, and ensures all appropriate parties are kept informed of such changes., • Uses effective leadership, management, and training to shape the performance of assigned team members in keeping with company expectations, job descriptions, and policy standards., • Documents and provides timely feedback to assigned personnel to recognize, reinforce, or modify their performance. Boosts or maintains team morale at every appropriate opportunity., • Serves as a safe, effective and valued member of the team as reflected in the results of periodic performance assessments. Customer feedback may also be taken into account., • Keeps MISTRAS Project Manager(s) and other company leaders informed as appropriate., • Proactively contacts leadership staff to engage their assistance to report, work through, document, and resolve operational, safety, or performance concerns., • Adheres to the scope and technique standards associated with rope access certification, and demonstrates a detailed understanding and mastery of the skills and standards outlined in the Company’s Rope Access Procedures., • Develops and maintains extensive knowledge of rescue preparedness, rescue management, and advanced rescue techniques., • Follows company policies, procedures and work instructions at all times., • Completes all training assignments on time and with satisfactory performance ratings., • Punctual, prepared, and ready to work at the designated start time for each shift., • Meets availability and attendance standards established by the Company., • Knows, understands and exemplifies the Company’s Expedition Behaviors on a consistent basis., • Maintains certification as a Level I, II, or III Rope Access Technician (SPRAT or IRATA). Or an interest in obtaining such certifications., • High school graduate or GED. Responsibilities: • Perform composite repairs and inspections in the field at varying heights up to 300 feet., • Perform coating and structural repairs of internal and external composite structures, such as wind turbine blades and nacelles., • Complete repairs independently of 5+ layers., • Serve as a liaison with customers and the corporate office regarding all aspects of field operations., • Handle scheduling and planning of daily field operations activities., • Perform LEP applications., • Test, troubleshoot, and repair LPS from blade receptors to hub., • Safely rig, set up, and operate the blade access platform., • Perform inspections of internal and external blade damage, document findings, and assemble all associated paperwork as required to be posted for further action by Engineering., • Perform composite repairs CAT 1-5 on internal and external blade surfaces, leading and trailing edge repair while following the guidelines provided., • Perform grinding/scarfing/chamfer of fiberglass layers and fiberglass preparation; knowledge of glass types and pros/cons i.e. UD, Biax, Triax., • Perform foam or balsa core repairs., • Perform vacuum consolidation and post-cure process., • Perform rigging, de-rigging operations, and inspections of equipment, platforms, & boom trucks or lifts., • Inspect and document damage and all repair steps with photographs, and assemble documentation as required., • Evaluate, inspect, diagnose, and document internal and external composite damage., • Complete and maintain required company and client documentation and records, using computer-based service reporting tools, photos, and procedures., • Responsible for weekly inspections of PPE., • Epoxy and Polyester resin wet layup., • High School Diploma or GED, required., • 3+years of experience in the wind industry required., • Experience in composite, • Ability to read complex technical drawings and understand processes., • Wind Technician Certificate Required (Tower Rescue, CPR, First Aid, AED, OSHA 10, Competent Climber, confined space, working in heights, NFPA 70)., • Certified IRATA preferred., • Quality knowledge of specifications such as temperature and humidity restrictions; full understanding of the parameters of the repairs being performed and the different processes needed., • Safety Oriented by continuously maintaining a safe job environment by complying with all Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) policies., • Knowledge and understanding of OSHA standards and MSDS., • Effective & professional communication with customers., • Strong initiative and motivation to constantly learn new techniques and share ideas for better practices., • Ability to climb 60-125 meters in height, ability to lift, push/pull, and carry items up to 50 lbs., and the ability to stand, stoop, kneel, and bend for prolonged periods of time., • Ability to grip and manually manipulate, often with repetitive motion, items such as, but not limited to, hand tools and turbine parts., • Comfort working in confined spaces and at heights over 100 meters and ability to use equipment with a maximum weight capacity of 270 lb., • Have an efficient field of vision including visual depth perception and ability to distinguish colors., • Apply today and let us know why you would be a great fit!
