Job Description Currently we are looking for Soils Inspectors for immediate Building & Infrastructure Projects Location: Greater New York City Metropolitan Area (Project Location Varies) Status: Part Time as Needed Duration: Extended Client: Varies Compensation: $30hr - $40/hr Based on Certification & Experience Soils / Geotechnical Inspector Role Overview The Soils / Geotechnical Inspector provides specialized inspection, testing, and verification services for earthwork, foundations, and geotechnical construction activities on Building & Infrastructure projects throughout the Greater New York City Metropolitan Area. This role supports both Quality Control (QC) and Quality Assurance (QA) programs in accordance with 1 RCNY §101-06, Chapter 17 of the NYC Building Code, the International Building Code (IBC), and applicable geotechnical standards. The Soils / Geotechnical Inspector is responsible for verifying that subsurface construction activities, materials, and installations conform to approved geotechnical reports, design documents, specifications, and code requirements. Typical work includes inspection of site preparation, excavation, subgrade preparation, structural fill placement, compaction, foundations, and soil improvement systems. This position requires an active on-site presence during earthwork and foundation activities, including witnessing required testing, verifying compliance with approved procedures, and coordinating closely with contractors, construction managers, testing laboratories, and design professionals. The inspector will proactively identify non-conforming conditions, document deficiencies, issue Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and verify corrective actions and re-testing. The Soils / Geotechnical Inspector plays a critical role in ensuring foundation performance, structural stability, constructability alignment, and long-term project durability, particularly on projects involving complex subsurface conditions or deep foundation systems. • Work responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:, • Inspection of site preparation, excavation, and subgrade conditions, • Observation of structural fill placement, lift thickness, and compaction, • Perform or Witness Field density testing with a Nuclear Moisture Density Gauge, • Review laboratory test results, • Inspection of shallow and deep foundation elements (spread footings, caissons, piles, micro-piles), • Oversight of soil improvement methods (e.g., ground improvement, grouting, compaction methods), • Work hours may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, or night shifts depending on project requirements and concrete placement schedules., • Reporting & Documentation Requires you to:, • Prepare and submit daily inspection and test reports within required timeframe., • Utilize client or company reporting platforms as require, • Maintain organized and auditable inspection records.
