Job Description POSITION SUMMARY The Maintenance Mechanic II supports all production/facility equipment and teams, performs preventive and corrective maintenance on all equipment, completes process improvement projects, and maintains the facility in top condition. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS General Maintenance & Safety • Perform preventive and corrective maintenance on production and facility equipment, • Respond to equipment issues and support rapid troubleshooting to minimize downtime, • Execute work orders, including documentation, parts tracking, and close-out, • Utilize CMMS and purchasing systems for work coordination and material requisitions, • Follow all safety procedures, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), hot work permits, and safe equipment operation, • Operate powered industrial equipment (e.g., forklifts) in a safe manner, • Maintain and repair pumps, motors, gearboxes, and rotating equipment, including:, • Pump seal replacement and basic rebuilds (e.g., AOD pumps), • Motor installation, wiring, and rotation checks, • Bearing installation/removal and lubrication, • Belt and chain inspection, tensioning, and replacement, • Perform basic alignment of pumps and motors, • Install, repair, and modify piping systems, including PVC, copper, stainless steel, and carbon steel, • Perform pipe threading, fitting, and assembly, including the use of compression and soldered connections, • Apply proper flange torque specifications and ensure leak-free system operation, • Conduct leak detection and system testing for gas and liquid systems, • Perform hands-on welding (MIG, TIG, and/or stick) for equipment repair, piping, and general fabrication, • Fabricate and modify piping systems, supports, and mechanical components, • Perform basic pipe welding and fit-up of components and assemblies in a shop or plant environment, • Cut, grind, drill, and tap metal components (stainless, aluminum, carbon steel), • Perform basic electrical troubleshooting and repairs (primarily low voltage), • Assist with motor wiring and system checks, • Perform basic HVAC system maintenance and troubleshooting, including inspection of refrigeration systems and components, • Assist with leak detection, system diagnostics, and refrigerant handling in accordance with safety and environmental regulations, • Perform general facility repairs including plumbing, carpentry, and minor drywall work, • Install and anchor equipment, including leveling and alignment, • Support small projects including material take-offs and execution, • Support continuous improvement and equipment reliability initiatives, • 2+ years industrial maintenance experience or equivalent in a manufacturing or process environment, • Demonstrated hands-on experience with:, • Mechanical systems and equipment repair, • Industrial piping and plumbing, • Basic electrical and facility maintenance, • Hands-on welding experience required, including MIG, TIG, or stick welding in an industrial setting, • Experience with pipefitting and pipe welding (stainless steel and/or carbon steel), • Working knowledge of:, • Pumps, motors, gearboxes, and rotating equipment, • Industrial piping systems (PVC, copper, stainless, carbon steel), • Basic electrical systems and motor controls, • Ability to read and interpret:, • Mechanical drawings and blueprints, • Equipment manuals, • P&IDs (preferred), • Experience with sanitary (hygienic) welding of stainless-steel piping and components, • Familiarity with:, • TIG welding of thin-wall stainless tubing, • Back purging techniques and weld quality standards, • Food-grade, biotech, or chemical process systems, • Welding certifications (AWS or equivalent) a plus, • Fabrication experience (layout, fit-up, and assembly of piping or structural components), • Machining experience (vertical mill and lathe), • Experience with HVAC and refrigeration systems, including:, • Leak detection and system diagnostics, • Refrigerant recovery, evacuation, and recharging, • Preventive maintenance of chillers, condensers, or air handling systems, • EPA Universal Refrigerant Certification (or ability to obtain) preferred., • Strong safety knowledge and adherence to procedures, • Basic computer skills (CMMS, Excel, email, internet research), • Strong troubleshooting, communication, teamwork, and time management skills, • Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within constantly changing, • priorities with enthusiasm. This position does not have supervisory responsibilities. WORK ENVIRONMENT The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. This position is required to work in a manufacturing warehouse environment. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to work near moving mechanical parts, chemicals, and risk of electrical shock. POSITION TYPE/EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK This is a full-time, non-exempt shift-based position, hours as assigned: Shift Hours: 7:00am-3:30pm (Mon-Fri) OVERTIME Overtime hours may be required or offered depending on plant and company needs but are not guaranteed. COMPENSATION $38 - $40 per hour.
