Job Description JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Security/Attendance Officer FLSA: Non-Exempt DEPARTMENT: Youth Services REPORTS TO: Program Director LOCATION: Bronx, NY SALARY: 18.00 Hourly SUMMARY: The Security/Attendance Officer controls the Single Point of Access (entry and exit) at each location through managing a sign in and out log out of youth participants, parents/guardians, staff, and vendors/partners. The Security/Attendance Officer ensures the safety of the program at all times including deescalating potential conflicts and calling emergency services (police department, fire department, etc.) when needed. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Sits at the Single Point of Access monitoring all people that enter and exit the site., • Has all program participants, parents/guardians, staff, and vendors/partners sign into the site upon entry and out of the site upon exit., • Adds to the positive culture of the program through welcoming all people who are entering the site and displaying a positive attitude and warm demeanor., • Ensures that all parents/guardians picking up children are indicated in the child’s file as responsible adults for the child. Does not allow children to be picked up by adults not known to the program., • Prevents the entry to program site of any undesirable individual. Job Description JOB DESCRIPTION JOB TITLE: Safety Security Officer FLSA: Non-Exempt DIVISION: Operations REPORTS TO: Shift Supervisor LOCATION: Flushing, NY SALARY: $19.65 hourly SUMMARY: The Safety Security Officer is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of all clients, staff, and the property around the facility in a homeless shelter. Operations within our facility are available 24 hours a day. This is a relief position that requires face-to-face relief with mandatory overtime. This position reports to the Shift Supervisor and Security Manager of the Facility. DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: • Perform daily inspections of all clients’ rooms, • Escort clients to appointments as needed, • Interact with and monitor clients' behavior, maintaining a good rapport by providing excellent customer service. Encourage clients to comply with the facility's policies and procedures., • Control access at the main entrance by screening all clients and visitors, utilizing a magnetometer or x-ray machine to detect and prevent weapons from entering the site., • Perform Crisis Intervention to de-escalate potential crises and document all such situations and interventions., • Make hourly rounds throughout the entire facility, including all hallways, stairwells, floors, bathrooms, laundry rooms, kitchen, and office spaces., • Respond to incidents, • Assist with client intakes., • Perform daily pack-ups and logging of client property belonging to AWOL clients., • Store and remove client property once the mandated storage time has expired, • Maintain a clean and organized storage area, • Complete logs, incident reports, and all other required documentation., • Make calls to police, fire department, and other first responders as directed., • Perform administrative and receptionist duties at the operations desk; monitor video surveillance cameras, and the fire prevention/detection alarm notification system., • Perform duties related to fire incidents, including evacuating the building when necessary, and adhere to established fire procedures., • Ensure the safety and security of all assigned equipment., • Mandatory overtime required, • Perform other tasks as assigned. EXPERIENCE, EDUCATION, AND SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS: A high school diploma or GED, along with prior security experience, is required. Must have NYS Security Guard License and current 8-Hour Annual Certificate. Fire Guard License for Shelters preferred F02. Excellent written and verbal communication skills are necessary. Certified in Nonviolent Crisis Intervention (CPI) preferred. Must be able to work flexible shifts, weekends, and overtime if required.
