Job Description Part-Time 25-29 hours/Week Position Summary: The Campus Security Officer is responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment for all students, staff, faculty, and visitors at Phoenix Seminary. This individual will demonstrate a strong alignment with the Seminary’s mission and values while proactively monitoring campus activity and responding to safety concerns. The ideal candidate will be observant, trustworthy, and service-oriented, contributing to a welcoming yet secure campus atmosphere. Principal Responsibilities: • Conduct regular foot patrols of the campus to ensure safety and identify potential risks or hazards., • Monitor vehicles and visitors entering the parking lot; report any unauthorized or suspicious activity., • Ensure that all campus buildings (Chapel, Library, Administrative offices, classrooms) are properly secured and alarmed after hours (after 5 PM, Monday–Friday), unless occupied by authorized personnel., • Lock and secure campus gates when the Seminary is closed., • Escort students, staff, or faculty to their vehicles upon request, especially during evening hours or if they feel unsafe., • Maintain a visible and approachable presence on campus to deter inappropriate or unlawful behavior., • Act as a first responder to security concerns or incidents on campus; escalate to the VP of Operations, Facilities Manager, or local law enforcement as necessary., • Attend and provide security for on-campus events and special gatherings as requested by Seminary leadership., • Assist in managing the removal of individuals from campus if required, in coordination with leadership and appropriate authorities., • Complete detailed incident reports and maintain daily activity logs., • High school diploma or GED required, prior experience in security, law enforcement, or military preferred., • Strong interpersonal and communication skills; able to de-escalate tense situations with professionalism and care., • Must be physically able to walk the campus and respond quickly to incidents., • Comfortable using security systems, radios, and basic reporting tools., • Must pass a background check and possess a valid driver’s license., • Flexible schedule, including availability for evenings, weekends, and events., • Commitment to the mission and values of Phoenix Seminary., • Bachelor’s degree preferred, • At least two years of experience, • Must be able to walk the campus Evaluation: The position described above, like other staff, will be evaluated at the end of an Introductory period (90-day review), and then, if applicable, on an annual basis.
