Who we want: We’re looking for a vigilant, responsible, and team-oriented Security Officer to join our SubTropolis-based security team. The ideal candidate brings strong situational awareness, sound judgment, and a calm, confident presence to the role. They are comfortable enforcing rules and local laws, responding to a range of incidents, and interacting professionally with tenants, employees, and the public. This person takes pride in upholding safety standards and protecting people, property, and reputation. They are reliable, self-disciplined, and prepared to act when needed—while maintaining the professional courtesy and ethical conduct that define Hunt Midwest Security. What you’ll do: As a Security Officer, you’ll play a key role in protecting the people, property, and operations of the World's Largest Underground Business Complex™, SubTropolis. You’ll patrol designated areas, enforce company policies and local laws, respond to emergencies, and serve as a visible, trusted presence for tenants, employees, and guests. From incident response to routine inspections, you’ll contribute to a culture of accountability, professionalism, and operational readiness. Your essential duties: Safety & Security Operations • Maintain a presence in the Security Command Center, speaking with visitors, answering phones, dispatching other personnel, monitoring alarms, and observing the camera system, • Enforce company regulations, municipal ordinances, and state/federal laws under the authority granted by the KCPD Private Officers Licensing Unit, • Respond to incidents involving trespassing, disturbances, motor vehicle accidents, and medical emergencies with professionalism and care, • Serve as a courteous and helpful presence to employees, tenants, and visitors, offering assistance, directions, or escorts as needed, • Respond to service calls in a prompt and customer-focused manner, prioritizing the safety of all individuals on Hunt Midwest property, • Complete accurate, timely reports following incidents, enforcement actions, or service-related calls, • Document findings from inspections and patrols according to department protocols, • Maintain confidentiality, exercise sound judgment, and uphold the standards of the Security department in all aspects of the role, • Valid Class A Unarmed Private Security Officer License issued by the Kansas City Board of Police Commissioners, • Possession of a valid driver’s license for operating company vehicles on patrol, • Ability to respond calmly and effectively in stressful or emergency situations, • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, with the ability to de-escalate conflict and communicate with professionalism, • Familiarity with law enforcement procedures, safety inspections, and emergency response best practices, • Strong attention to detail in observation, documentation, and decision-making, • Ability to work independently and follow established procedures with sound judgment, • Commitment to ethical conduct, confidentiality, and team collaboration, • Physical ability to walk long distances and respond quickly on foot when necessary, • Reputation, Resources, and Relationships, • Supportive ownership group, • Collaborative team environment Hunt Midwest is committed to promoting diversity within our organization.
