Essential Job Summary:: Our Yellow Iron Diesel Technicians/Mechanics perform inspection, diagnosis, preventative maintenance, and repair of electrical, hydraulic, suspension, brake and air systems on vehicles and equipment, primarily including yellow iron machinery, diesel heavy trucks and engines. The Technician or Mechanic is not only responsible for understanding maintenance and breakdown needs and initiating/ assigning necessary repairs, but also must be able to operate the machinery being repaired. At times, the Technician may be on call and required to assist with emergency breakdowns. Essential Job Functions: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Other minor duties may be assigned.: • Maintains advanced knowledge to diagnose and repair mechanical problems on heavy equipment (heavy equipment includes but not limited to: yellow iron machinery, tractor trailers, forklifts, and other diesel trucks), • Performs repairs and assigned preventative maintenance services., • Estimates time and material cost on vehicle repairs and requisition of new parts., • Conduct safety checks on vehicles., • Completes required paperwork utilizing fleet maintenance software program associated with repairing vehicles, documenting part usage, and accounting for repair time., • Reviews, completes, or assigns repairs identified on Driver Vehicle Inspection Reports., • Maintain a clean, safe work area in compliance with Company safety protocols and OSHA standards., • This position will have no direct reports, however they will work in collaboration with the other yellow iron diesel mechanic on staff, although on different shifts., • Assists Sr. Technicians in the completion of project work. They must also adhere to all the Federal and State laws and regulations when operating a Motor Vehicle, safety standards, and the Service Guarantee. He or she is responsible for the transfer, buyout process and interoffice deliveries, and clear communication while performing these duties. He or she is also responsible for performing the transfer transaction in our ERP System. This is a full time, hourly position, working Monday to Friday, 8:30 pm to 5 pm. Responsibilities: • Lead and execute small lot surveys, elevation certificates, and residential construction stakeout projects., • Perform fieldwork for topographic surveys, stream elevation certificates, and related tasks with minimal supervision., • Coordinate daily survey tasks, completing 3–4 projects per day (or 2 for larger topographic surveys)., • Operate modern survey equipment, including robotic total stations, GPS units, and data collectors., • Ensure accuracy and quality in data collection and documentation for private jobs, including work with architects., • Communicate effectively with office staff to meet project deadlines and client needs., • Minimum of 5 years of field surveying experience, including leadership of survey crews., • Proficiency with modern survey equipment and software; experience with robotic total stations is preferred., • Strong knowledge of residential surveys, construction stakeout, and elevation certificates., • Ability to work independently or as part of a two-person crew., • Excellent organizational and communication skills to manage multiple projects daily., • Competitive salary commensurate with experience., • Employer covers 75% of healthcare premiums for employees., • 401(k) plan with a 6% match., • Summer hours: Shortened Fridays to promote work-life balance., • Opportunities for overtime work daily and weekly.
