Job Description Mobile Staff Solutions is now hiring for a Crane Operator in the Tampa area! This is a temp to hire opportunity. POSITION SUMMARY: Class A: Must be certified. Understand and operate all yard equipment. Knows, understands and can give all hand signals. Can read and understand all shipping and receiving tickets. Able to assist in foreman’s duties if he is out. Understands rigging and knows how to load trucks. Listens and follows directions. Keeps the equipment clean from trash and dirt. Reports any mechanical issues. Able to assist in directing Class B Operators. Class B: Certified, understands and operates at least 2 pieces of yard equipment. Listens and follows directions. Keeps the equipment clean from dirt. Reports any mechanical issues. EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: 1. High school diploma or equivalent, 2. Knowledge of federal regulations and industry standards for the safe operation of the crane, including but not limited to ASME B30.5, B30.10, B30.23, OSHA 1910.180, 1926.550 (Required), 3. Bilingual skills (Preferred), 4. 3 years’ experience in steel industries, 5. NCCCO Certified for a large and small crane (Required) MUST HAVES / SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, LICENSES, CERTIFICATIONS, ETC: 1. The candidate must possess a current and valid driver’s license as required for the position, i.e., DOT-Class A, B (Required) RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES: 1. Prepare pre-trip vehicle inspection, 2. Filling out pre-trip vehicle inspection paperwork, 3. Conduct daily crane inspections for unsafe conditions/deficiencies and notify supervision of conditions, 4. Check all fluids/tires/lights and all signals as listed on pre-trip, 5. Identify and evaluate hazards associated with access to a job site, site hazards such as underground utilities as well as overhead transportation clearances, 6. Review lift requirements with site supervision to include determination of working height, boom length, load radius, load weight, crane capacity, travel clearance, the extension of crawlers or outriggers/stabilizers, and counterweights, 7. Properly use mats, blocking, or cribbing, and outriggers or crawlers as they affect the supporting surfaces to handle the expected loads of the operation, 8. Properly use the outriggers in accordance with the manufacturer’s specifications, 9. Understand and show competence with rigging devices and their use, such as slings, spreaders, lifting beams, wire rope fittings, clips, shackles, wedge sockets, saddles (softeners), clamps, hook blocks, and overhaul balls, 10. Expertly pick, carry, swing, and place the load smoothly and safely on rubber tires and on outriggers/stabilizers or crawlers (where applicable), 11. Properly operate a crane safely under the following conditions: traveling with suspended loads, approaching two-blocking cooperating near electric power lines using various approved counterweight configurations handling loads out of the operator’s vision ("operating in the blind"), using electronic communications techniques such as radios, 12. Use capacity load charts. Understand: the operational limitations of load charts and footnotes, the difference between structural capacity and capacity limited by stability what is included in load chart capacity, the range diagram, and its relationship to the load chart the work area chart, and its relationship to the load chart, 13. Where to find and how to use the "parts-of-line" information Delivering better candidates by customizing the screening and assessment process for each and every customer.
