American Traveler is seeking a travel nurse RN ICU - Intensive Care Unit for a travel nursing job in Omaha, Nebraska. Job Description & Requirements • Specialty: ICU - Intensive Care Unit, • Discipline: RN, • Start Date: 12/08/2025, • Duration: 13 weeks, • 36 hours per week, • Shift: 12 hours, nights, • Work in a 34-bed Medical Surgical Intensive Care Unit within an acute care hospital, • Level 1 Trauma environment with adult and pediatric patients over 15 years old, • Nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:1-2 in ICU, with floating to other inpatient units except Maternity and NICU, • Diverse cases including neuro-surgery, respiratory failure, MODS, sepsis, stroke, cardiogenic shock, renal failure, general surgery, psych/overdose, GI bleeds, and cancer-specific surgeries, • Use of advanced equipment including CVPs, A-lines, Swans, EV-1000, ICP monitoring, Zoll Thermoguard, and Bell Mont rapid transfuser, • Requires titration of drips including vasopressors, paralytics, narcotics, sedation, and antiarrhythmics, • Use of Draeger heart monitors with centralized telemetry; RNs are responsible for reading and interpreting, • Shift schedule is 12-hour nights (1830-0630), • Weekend and holiday work required on an every-other basis or as needed, • Epic EMR is used on this unit, • Scrub color requirement is navy blue, • Primary responsibilities include providing comprehensive critical care and collaborating with fellows, residents, and attending providers, • Team-oriented environment with support from a charge nurse, nurse aides, and multidisciplinary staff, • Fast-paced unit with census fluctuations due to tertiary care status, • Two unit-specific orientation shifts are provided, • Must pass a skills-based open book exam during orientation with a score of 90% or higher, • Artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care areas, • Requested time off must be submitted up front and is limited to 7 days or fewer per 13-week contract, • First-time travelers are accepted, • Candidates must reside more than 50 miles from the facility\n \n Requirements\n, • Active NE or compact RN license required at time of application; pending licenses not accepted, • Minimum 2 years recent ICU experience required, • Current certifications in BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS are required, • Ability to read and interpret telemetry strips independently, • Ability to manage multiple high-acuity patients and titrate critical drips, • Driver's license required to verify residency beyond a 50-mile radius from the facility, • May not have held any FT, PT, or PRN position at any facility associated with CommonSpirit, CHI, or Dignity within the past year, • References: one supervisor from within the last 12 months and one peer or supervisor from within the last 3 years with dates of employment and eligibility for rehire\n Benefits\n, • High Pay and Bonuses, • Medical, Dental and Vision Insurance with Day 1 Options, • 401(k) Plan, • Weekly Payroll Deposit, • Free Online CEUs, • Generous Housing Allowance, • Travel and Licensure Reimbursements, • Non-taxed Per Diem and Subsidy With thousands of travel nursing and allied jobs nationwide, our attentive and approachable recruiters find positions that align perfectly with your career aspirations and personal requirements.
