Job Description Company Overview Works-in-Progress Associates (WPA) specializes in Construction and Program Management services, directly supporting Governmental and Institutional agencies on a diverse range of projects. Summary We are seeking a skilled Construction Superintendent to join our dynamic team at Works-in-Progress Associates (WPA). This position is in-person, Monday-Friday, working with the Office of General Services (OGS) Harriman State Office Building Campus in Albany, NY. The candidate must be able to develop/communicate a project work plan, monitor manpower and performance against that work plan, and be able to perform a detailed comparison of the design drawings against each other to ensure coordination between each of the various project trades. Project: This portfolio includes approximately $400 million in construction value addressing 20 to 25 projects that will add, upgrade and replace buildings and infrastructure at the Harriman State Office Building Campus in Albany, NY. Work will include but is not limited to architectural and structural replacements, renovations, and repairs to building facades, roofs, office spaces, restrooms, stairways, parking lots, roadways, storm-water collection systems, new building and parking lot construction as well as upgrades and modifications to fire alarm systems, elevators, and existing mechanical and electrical equipment/services to increase energy efficiency. Minimum Requirements: • Baccalaureate Degree in engineering/architecture and/or construction related field from an accredited college or university is preferred., • Must possess a minimum of six (6) years of experience in construction involving multiple phases of large-scale building/rehabilitation projects. A minimum of 4 years’ experience shall be as an Assistant Superintendent or Inspector on large-scale, multi-contract building projects., • OSHA 30 certification is required, • A driver's license valid in New York State., • Demonstrated proficiency with all applicable software packages including but not limited to MS Windows; MS Office (including Project, Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint), and Adobe Acrobat. Skills: • Ability to build and strengthen long-lasting client relationships by providing reliable service and project solutions., • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with all management levels., • Must have excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills., • Must have strong organizational and time management skills., • Must be able to adapt and prioritize, meeting deadlines, in a fast-paced environment., • Operate with a sense of urgency, quickly responding to clients., • Demonstrated leadership, responsiveness, and accountability., • Detail oriented with strong analytical skills., • Proactive and take initiative. Because we are a woman-owned firm we are on contracts with larger Construction Management firms such as LiRo, Hill International, Jacobs, Tectonic, Gilbane, etc. and we help them to meet their WBE goals. We provide Project Managers, Inspectors, Estimators, Office Engineers and so on. Currently we are on about 10-15 different contracts.WPA is a woman-owned Owner's Representative firm and we manage construction projects for mostly nonprofits including schools, hospitals, libraries, etc. in the New York City area.
