Job DescriptionJob Title: Diesel Truck Mechanic Job Description The Diesel Truck Mechanic will be responsible for maintaining, servicing, and repairing a fleet of waste management trucks. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems to perform accurate and efficient work consistently. Key duties include preventative maintenance, diagnosing and testing issues, performing effective repairs, changing parts and equipment, and minimizing downtime. Responsibilities • Conduct preventative maintenance on waste management trucks., • Diagnose and test mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems for issues., • Perform timely and effective repairs on vehicles., • Replace parts and equipment as necessary., • Ensure minimal downtime of fleet vehicles., • Perform welding tasks as required.Essential Skills, • Strong knowledge in diesel, truck, and heavy equipment mechanics., • Proficiency in mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic diagnostics and repairs., • Experience in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems., • Ability to perform diagnostic testing and repair of diesel trucks., • 5+ years of diesel mechanic experience., • 2+ years of experience in mechanical/electrical troubleshooting and diagnostics.Additional Skills & Qualifications, • Welding skills are a plus., • Trade school certification is advantageous.Why Work Here? Work Environment The work environment is a shop setting that can be hot in the summer and cold in the winter. You will be part of a team of approximately 14-15 mechanics, working in relatively tight spaces. The job is scheduled Monday through Friday from 1:30 PM to 10 PM. Training initially starts at 8 AM, and every other month, work on Saturdays is required with a weekday off. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Modesto, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $23.00 - $32.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
