Job Description Mission Serve as a senior technical authority in dimensional inspection, measurement systems, calibration, and CMM programming. This role ensures that every inspection method, measurement tool, and calibration activity is accurate, compliant, and capable—directly protecting PTI’s ability to deliver precision injection-molded components for aerospace, defense, and highly regulated industries. Competencies – What This Person Must Be • Master Inspector & Metrology Expert: Advanced skills in dimensional inspection, GD&T, CMM (Calypso), vision systems, fixtures, and measurement troubleshooting., • Calibration & Measurement System Owner: Ensures all tooling, gages, fixtures, and instruments are accurate, controlled, and compliant with AS9100 requirements., • Process-Minded Technician: Understands how inspection results impact production capability, customer acceptance, and risk., • Detail-Oriented & Documentation-Driven: Produces accurate records for calibration, inspection plans, tooling status, and measurement traceability., • Self-Directed and Proactive: Takes initiative to identify and resolve quality risks without being prompted and with minimal supervision; follows through on actions with rigor and accountability., • Leadership & Mentorship: Guides Level 1 and Level 2 inspectors and supports training on measurement equipment, methods, and inspection strategies. Key Responsibilities • Perform highest-complexity inspections and make final accept/reject decisions., • Create, update, and control inspection plans, visual standards, and metrology work instructions to help standardize inspection practices across the department., • Program and operate Zeiss CMMs (Calypso), OGP/Keyence vision systems, and other automated measurement platforms., • Develop fixturing concepts or collaborate with Engineering on inspection fixture design., • Troubleshoot measurement discrepancies, CMM program errors, and complex geometry issues., • Lead inspection readiness for customer source inspections, audits, and critical part reviews., • Own and oversee calibration ensuring all gages, fixtures, and measurement systems are properly maintained, scheduled, fully documented, compliant with AS9100, and supported through effective management of calibration records, out-of-tolerance investigations, and external vendor relationships., • Participate in dimensional-related root cause analysis, contributing measurement expertise during 8D, corrective action, and customer inquiries., • Ensure all inspection processes meet customer and regulatory requirements., • Train and mentor Level 1 and Level 2 inspectors on GD&T, inspection techniques, and equipment use. Key Metrics & KPI’s • ≥ 98% Quality Shipments., • 100% on-time completion of assigned inspections., • Zero escapes on parts inspected or approved., • Improved inspection efficiency and accuracy year-over-year., • 100% compliance with safety and quality procedures, • 100% calibration compliance, • Documented completion of inspector training and demonstrated skill improvement Required Experience and Qualifications (Subject to Management Discretion) • High school diploma or equivalent; technical degree preferred., • 5+ years of advanced inspection experience with strong GD&T and blueprint mastery, • Hands-on CMM programming using Zeiss Calypso, • Experience with OGP/Keyence or similar optical/vision systems, • Experience with calibration system maintenance/management (GAGETrak preferred),, • Strong communication, teamwork, and leadership skills. Preferred Qualifications • ASQ Certified Quality Technician (CQT), Certified Quality Inspector (CQI), or metrology-related certification., • Experience in aerospace, defense, or medical device manufacturing. Physical Requirements • Ability to work in both office and manufacturing floor environments., • Capable of lifting up to 40 lbs and accessing production and inspection equipment., • Manual dexterity for handling tools, parts, and inspection equipment., • Visual acuity sufficient to read documents, use computer screens, and inspect products or components. Work Environment • Manufacturing facility with exposure to injection molding machines, CNC equipment, and secondary operations., • Requires use of PPE, including safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection.Company DescriptionEngineers.
