Job Description 1st and 2nd Shift Production Associate Job Description This role focuses on the mechanical assembly and production of advanced compressed natural gas (CNG) fuel storage systems for trucks and heavy-duty vehicles. As a Production Associate, you will operate a variety of machines and tools, follow detailed work instructions, and contribute to multiple production stations to ensure high-quality tanks are manufactured safely, accurately, and on time. Responsibilities • Interpret and follow detailed work instructions, procedures, and visual guides to complete production tasks accurately., • Use assembly tools, fixtures, and specialized equipment to perform mechanical assembly operations., • Assist with filament winding operations, including resin application, resin squeezing, tool cleaning, and setting up floor mats., • Support rotomolding processes by preparing materials, loading and providing raw materials such as resin and paxon, and performing boss recovery tasks., • Perform tank labeling and foam dome installation with a high level of precision and attention to detail., • Assemble and package products to meet or exceed established quality standards and delivery timelines., • Lift and move raw materials, finished products, and packed items, including loads up to 50 pounds., • Clean, lubricate, and perform basic care on equipment to support safe and efficient operation., • Dispose of scrap resin, fiber, cardboard, and other production waste in accordance with facility procedures., • Maintain a clean, organized work area and support 5S housekeeping standards throughout the facility., • Work across multiple production stations, including rotomold operations, filament winding, trailer assembly, tube bending, and dome/label stations, as assigned., • Operate rotomold and injection molding machines to form tanks and support winding machines to wrap tanks with resin and protective layers., • Assist in trailer assembly by preparing tanks for installation on trucks and performing or supporting pressure tests., • Install and shape metal tubing around tanks in tube bending operations to support safety equipment and system integrity., • Work in adapter, volumetric, EOL domes/labels stations by measuring tanks, checking pressurization, lowering tanks into water baths, and checking for bubbles or leaks., • Use hand and power tools safely and effectively to complete assembly, adjustment, and installation tasks., • Collaborate with team members and leads to troubleshoot issues, support continuous improvement, and ensure production goals are met., • Work overtime as required, including extended daily shifts and occasional Saturdays, to meet production demands. Essential Skills • At least 1.5 years of production, manufacturing, or machine operation experience., • Mechanical aptitude with demonstrated ability to work in a mechanical assembly or production environment., • Experience and proficiency with hand tools and power tools, with the ability to identify and use common tools from a standard toolbox., • Ability to accurately follow written work instructions, procedures, and visual instruction sheets or routers., • Capability to lift up to 50 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks throughout the shift., • Willingness and ability to work a 2nd shift schedule, Monday through Friday, with a typical start time around mid-afternoon and flexibility to start as late as 4:00 p.m., • Willingness to work mandatory overtime, including up to 12-hour shifts and occasional Saturdays, as production requires., • Comfort working with resins, epoxies, composites, fiberglass, and related materials in a manufacturing environment., • Strong attention to detail and commitment to meeting quality standards and safety requirements., • Reliability and consistent attendance to support continuous production operations. Additional Skills & Qualifications • Experience with filament winding, rotomolding, or composite manufacturing processes is a plus., • Exposure to composite materials such as carbon fiber, Kevlar, pre-preg, fiberglass, or similar materials is beneficial., • Experience using a torque wrench and understanding torque specifications is a plus., • Familiarity with visual instruction sheets, blueprints, or routers is advantageous but not mandatory., • Prior experience in general production, assembly, or machine operating in a manufacturing environment., • Comfort working with pressure testing processes, including measuring tanks, checking pressurization, and identifying leaks, is helpful but not required., • Steel-toed boots or the ability to obtain them, as required for safety in the production environment. Work Environment The role is based in a large, very clean manufacturing facility with multiple machines running, providing a modern and comfortable production environment that is not overly industrial. You will work around advanced equipment such as rotomold and injection molding machines, filament winding systems, and tube bending setups, along with a variety of hand and power tools. The position is on the 2nd shift, Monday through Friday, typically starting around 2:00 p.m. with flexibility to start as late as 4:00 p.m., and requires mandatory overtime as needed, which may include 12-hour days and some Saturdays. The work involves standing for extended periods, lifting up to 50 pounds, and moving between different stations such as rotomold, winding, trailer assembly, tube bending, and dome/label operations. Steel-toed boots are required for safety, and the facility emphasizes housekeeping and 5S standards to maintain an organized and safe workspace. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Santa Ana, CA. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $23.00/hr.
