What You’ll Do As a Crane Operator, you will play a key role in supporting our ironworkers and site crews by lifting, moving, and placing steel members, precast components, and heavy equipment. This position requires strong technical skill, attention to safety, and the ability to adapt to changing job site conditions. Core Responsibilities • Safely operate mobile cranes to hoist, move, and set steel beams, columns, joists, trusses, precast panels, and construction equipment., • Conduct daily crane inspections and perform routine maintenance., • Set up cranes on construction sites, ensuring proper leveling, blocking, and safety precautions., • Work closely with ironworkers, riggers, and signalpersons to execute lifts., • Interpret lift plans, load charts, and blueprints to determine proper crane configuration., • Participate in pre-lift meetings, safety briefings, and hazard analyses.Requirements:, • High school diploma or GED required., • 2–3 years of crane operating experience in steel erection or heavy construction required., • New York State Crane Operators Certificate of Competence – Required., • Lattice Boom Crane Certification preferred; Hydraulic crane certification acceptable., • Valid Class A CDL preferred., • OSHA 10 or 30 Construction Safety Training preferred., • Strong knowledge of rigging practices, signaling, and load charts.Physical Requirements:, • Ability to climb, sit, and operate equipment for extended periods in outdoor environments., • Moderate lifting: up to 25 pounds occasionally; up to 100 pounds on rare occasions with assistance., • Frequent standing, walking, talking, hearing, and fine motor use of hands/fingers., • Occasional climbing, kneeling, crouching, crawling, and stooping.
