BLS Certification 2. PCT Certification 3. De-escalation Training Description: Department focuses on psychiatric care for adults. Unit has 27 beds. Common diagnoses include schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, schizoaffective disorder, and substance abuse issues. Patients typically are 18 years and older and are medically stable. Detox or rehabilitation patients are not admitted. Candidates should have at least 1 year of psychiatric experience. First-time travelers are welcome. The unit does not perform IV insertion. The charge nurse and nursing care coordinators manage the unit continuously. PCTs will be responsible for safety checks, room checks, vitals, and assisting with activities of daily living. Direct observation of patient care is required, including rounding every 15 minutes. Phlebotomy experience is preferred, with re-education provided. Teamwork is essential as travelers may be asked to float to other units. Weekend and holiday work is required, with every other weekend and 2-3 holidays annually. There are no on-call or standby requirements. Physical restraints may be used with proper training provided during orientation. The unit does not have telemetry monitoring; RN staff members read strip details. Patients may require respiratory consultations for oxygen needs. The scrub color for this role is eggplant. This role plays a critical part in patient safety by accurately observing, interpreting, documenting, and communicating cardiac rhythms and abnormalities to the clinical care team. Key Responsibilities: • Continuously monitor cardiac telemetry and vital signs, • Observe, read, and interpret cardiac rhythm strips and waveforms, • Identify and recognize heart rhythm abnormalities and anomalies, • Promptly communicate significant rhythm changes to nursing staff and providers, • Accurately document cardiac rhythms, measurements, and observations, • Maintain continuous observation and ensure proper functioning of monitoring equipment, • Follow hospital policies, patient safety standards, and confidentiality guidelines Requirements: • Minimum of 1 year of acute care experience (required), • At least 2 total years of experience monitoring vital signs and cardiac rhythms, • High School Diploma or GED (required), • Current AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (required), • Active EKG Certification (required), • Ability to work rotating weekends and report as scheduled, including holidays If this sounds like something you’d be interested in, please get back to me at your earliest convenience.
