Job Description Role: Staff Accountant - Accounts Payable Location: Santa Monica, CA Job Type: Temporary, with assignment expected to continue through 2026 Schedule: Full-Time, 5 days onsite Pay: $25 – $35 / hour, depending on experience Benefits: This role is eligible for health, dental and vision. Position Overview We are seeking a detail-oriented and personable Staff Accountant with strong Accounts Payable experience to join a growing and fast-paced organization in Santa Monica. This is a hands-on role for someone who is comfortable owning day-to-day AP responsibilities while also supporting general accounting and month-end close activities. The ideal candidate is highly accurate, proactive, and a strong problem-solver who takes ownership of issues from start to finish. Experience in manufacturing, inventory, furniture, consumer products, or a similar environment is a plus. Key Responsibilities • Manage day-to-day Accounts Payable activities, including invoice processing and three-way matching., • Perform vendor statement reconciliations and research and resolve invoice discrepancies and variances., • Prepare and process checks, ACH payments, wire transfers, and foreign payments., • Process employee reimbursable expenses and ensure proper documentation and approvals., • Maintain accurate vendor records and respond to vendor inquiries in a timely and professional manner., • Research and resolve vendor and internal accounting issues, partnering with Purchasing, Operations, and other departments as needed., • Monitor AP aging and follow up on outstanding items., • Support month-end and year-end close activities., • Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and other accounting adjustments., • Perform account reconciliations, including prepaid expenses and other balance sheet accounts., • Assist with basic variance analysis and investigate unusual or unexpected account activity., • Support inventory and manufacturing-related accounting activities as needed., • Maintain accurate financial records and provide supporting documentation for audits and internal reporting., • Perform other accounting duties and special projects as assigned. Qualifications • 2+ years of hands-on Accounts Payable or Staff Accountant experience., • Strong understanding of three-way matching, vendor reconciliations, and invoice processing., • Experience processing checks, ACH payments, wires, and/or international payments., • Working knowledge of journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and month-end close., • Strong attention to detail and a high level of accuracy., • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills., • Strong Microsoft Excel skills., • Experience with an ERP or accounting system required., • Manufacturing, inventory, furniture, consumer products, or distribution experience is a plus., • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with a team.
