Job Description Registered Nurse – Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Travel Position Location: Houston, TX Job Type: Travel Contract Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 3×12 Nights (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) Pay: $2,077.20/week (plus $2,500 completion bonus per contract, up to $7,500 after three contracts) Position Summary ATC Healthcare is seeking an experienced Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) Registered Nurse (RN) for a 13-week travel assignment in Houston, Texas. This large, high-acuity NICU houses 146 beds across Level II, III, and IV care, providing advanced treatment for premature and critically ill newborns. The NICU RN will play a vital role in assessing, monitoring, and stabilizing neonates requiring complex respiratory, nutritional, and developmental support. The ideal candidate demonstrates exceptional technical proficiency, compassionate family-centered care, and a strong commitment to neonatal safety and outcomes. Key Responsibilities • Provide specialized nursing care for neonates requiring intensive or intermediate care in Level II–IV NICU settings., • Perform comprehensive neonatal assessments and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with neonatologists and the multidisciplinary team., • Administer IV therapy, medications, and nutrition via umbilical, central, or peripheral lines., • Manage respiratory support systems, including CPAP, ventilators, and high-flow oxygen therapy., • Assist with and support unit procedures, including lumbar punctures, central line placements, circumcisions, and ophthalmologic exams., • Maintain accurate documentation in Meditech and CPN EMR systems., • Float within all NICU areas and provide care for Level II Nursery or Pediatric patients as assigned., • Educate parents and families regarding infant care, feeding, and discharge preparation while promoting a family-centered care approach., • Ensure strict compliance with infection control and unit policies — including bare-below-the-elbows and no artificial nails standards., • Active Texas RN license or Compact State RN license (required)., • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing (BSN preferred)., • Minimum of 2 years of recent NICU RN experience (required)., • Level IV NICU experience preferred., • Meditech and CPN EMR experience preferred., • Required Certifications (AHA or AAP):, • BLS (Basic Life Support), • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program), • Proficiency in neonatal IV management, infant assessment, and respiratory support management., • Strong communication, critical thinking, and teamwork skills., • Demonstrated ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-acuity environment focused on patient safety and family satisfaction., • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination (medical/religious exemptions and declinations allowed)., • Weekly pay with competitive rates, • Health, dental, and vision insurance, • 401(k) retirement plan with company match, • Referral bonuses for referring talented professionals into our network ATC Healthcare has been a leader in healthcare staffing for nearly 40 years, offering personalized placement and support to healthcare professionals nationwide.
