Job DescriptionBenefits: • 401(k), • Dental insurance, • Health insurance This role is far beyond traditional accounting this is a financial leadership position responsible for building infrastructure, driving profitability, ensuring compliance, and supporting executive decision-making across manufacturing, distribution, retail, and emerging growth channels. The Controller will act as a trusted advisor to the CEO, owning financial integrity while proactively identifying opportunities to improve margins, optimize operations, and support expansion. This position will have direct accounting reports and will build and lead the accounting function as the company scales. Executive Impact: This role will directly influence: Profitability and cost structure across all product lines Financial visibility and decision-making at the executive level Operational efficiency in production, inventory, and distribution Scalability for multi-entity growth, acquisitions, and new markets Core Responsibilities: Partner with the CEO on strategic planning, growth initiatives, and capital allocation Develop and maintain rolling forecasts, budgets, and long-range financial model analysis Analyze and optimize gross margins, COGS, pricing strategies, and contribution margins Support M&A evaluation, due diligence, and integration Accounting Operations: Lead and oversee full-cycle accounting operations, including: General Ledger (GL) Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) Payroll coordination Fixed assets Accruals and reserves Own and execute month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close processes with precision and timeliness. Ensure accurate financial statements (P&L, Balance Sheet, Cash Flow) Cost Accounting & Inventory Management: Develop and manage robust cost accounting systems for: Coffee roasting and production Packaging and materials Labor allocation Analyze standard vs. actual costs Waste, shrinkage, and yield Inventory turnover and obsolesce Partner with operations to improve supply chain cost structure, sourcing, and efficiency Compliance, Audit & Risk Management: Ensure full compliance with: GAAP Federal, California, and local tax regulations Sales & use tax Lead all external audits, tax filings, and regulatory reporting Maintain policies for financial governance, risk mitigation, and fraud prevention Oversee insurance, liability coverage, and financial risk exposure Cash Flow, Treasury & Banking: Own and manage: Cash flow forecasting and liquidity planning Working capital optimization Monitor capital expenditures Qualifications: Active CPA (Certified Public Accountant) License Bachelors degree in accounting, finance, or related field 8-12 years of progressive accounting/finance experience Proven experience in a Controller or senior accounting leadership role Expertise in GAAP, financial reporting, internal controls Experience managing full-cycle accounting operations Compensation & Benefits: Competitive salary Health, dental, vision benefits PTO and holidays
