PURPOSE OF POSITION: To operate baler for the purpose of binding salvage and aid truck driver with loading and unloading as directed. To work at dock as needed to process all materials and fulfill Goodwill's mission statement. SUPERVISION EXERCISED: None. QUALIFICATIONS/EDUCATION: GED or high school diploma or one year experience in a warehouse required. ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Work with individuals who have disabilities and or barriers to employment and participate in the achievement of their goals. Demonstrate a positive, role model. Display commitment and involvement towards Goodwill's mission. JOB COMPETENCIES: Unload and load trucks as needed. Take boxed store returns and loose salvage to the baler. Put salvage in baler and operate compression mechanism until salvage is properly compacted. Tie compressed bale with strand of wire. Sort salvage as needed. Work at dock as needed to process all materials. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Take boxed store returns and loose salvage to the baler., • Put salvage in baler and operate compression mechanism until the salvage is properly compacted., • Tie compressed bale with strands of wire., • Work with driver and unload material from trucks., • Locate unloaded material in warehouse., • Sort salvage as needed DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: • Move trash to compactor as needed., • Clean work area at the end of each work day., • Adhere to all safety policies and report violations., • Adhere to all ethical standards and confidentiality of records., • Support mission statement and activities of other departments., • Support the accessibility of our services and facilities free of architectural, attitudinal, environmental and financial, communication, transportation, employment and other barriers to persons with disabilities and barriers to employment., • Other duties as assigned. STANDARDS FOR MEASURING PERFORMANCE/QUALITY STANDARDS: • Attendance and punctuality., • Quality and quantity of work performed., • Attitude and overall effectiveness of working relations with all stakeholders., • The manner in which duties and responsibilities, essential functions and job competencies are performed., • Support and value diversity. PHYSICAL STRENGTH: • Lift -- push/pull while standing - up to 20 pounds on a daily basis. Sometimes up to 50 pounds. Not every day, but occasionally over 50 pounds., • Carry -- push/pull while moving - up to 20 pounds on a daily basis. Occasionally up to 20 pounds.
